Didn't help my opinion of KOA. In fact hurt it. Was one of my less favorite undercover boss shows.

I enjoyed watching it, but I always enjoy that program. We've never stayed at a KOA, because we're just weekend campers. Because of that we tend to stick to our local state parks. Personally because they look so commercialized I don't think I would want to camp at one just for a weekend destination. Perhaps if we were traveling and needed a site for a day or so it would be fine. A couple of years ago a KOA campground was built about 40 miles from here. Our friends have stayed at it and enjoy it, but when we went to visit I felt the sites were so close together that you lacked privacy. They like the amenties of full hook-ups, wifi, and cable and I can live without those things for a couple of days. Each to their own. It depends on if you feel that you want a resort type surrounding.

I have used KOAs when I am tired and can't see any other options along my route. They are all usually close to the routes. I have found such difference in quality but for one night even the disappointing ones have felt safe. As others have mentioned they aren't state parks, which I prefer, and they generally cost more money that I would like to pay. Many I have seen are set up to take care of families well, with lots of activities for children. Just not my kind of camping. Even when we were young, my Dad would haul us all out with the tent and a small boat and we would be out in the middle of the TN about 3 miles from the dock by water.....

I workamped at several KOA's but not my choice to stay. Their sites are so close together and they often have lots of activities for kids thus its noisy. Not my cup of tea. I did watch the show and thought the CEO was pretty dorky.

I missed the show so will try to watch it on the computer. I think we could tell him something about KOA campgrounds. I have stayed at a few when I was traveling and waited too late to get off the road. They usually have good signs so I can find them. Since I learned how to find campground using my GPS it makes it easier. Like Tina, I find them very inconsistent. I don't want to pay $40 for a dirt site that sometimes isn't level.

I stayed at a lot of KOAs when I first got my motorhome and was trying to drive out west to get to my son's house, so was looking for just a quick place to stop overnight. I agree that they seemed to be safe, but I also think they tend to be crowded, full of families, and noisy. It was a KOA where the spots were so narrow the awning of the rig next to me was flapping against my slide and I had to move my rig over two feet while they went to the pool. This was the place where the picnic tables were at the rear of each site, right next to the sewer connection of the next vehicle!!

Also, I did not see the show, but I thought KOAs were privately owned, which is why they are all so different.

I would stay at a KOA if I were on a major interstate and just trying to make time, but I have never seen one yet where I would want to spend more than just a very quick night.

There is one in Cherokee NC that is really nice, I like it amyway. They are not unofrom like a food franchise is, and they seem to be easy to get to. Thereis one in Montecello Fla I was going to stay at tho and left last year, it was bad, in the middle of a mudhole. So they do have a unifrom code or anything, I also stayed in one near Pensacola once that i liked. As far a as familes and kids playing, that kind of noise does not bother me.

The show was a little bit like a commercial. Juggled between it and the RV show on HGTV at the same time.

KOA is not generally my favorite, but work well when driving a long distance and need to pull in and sleep. Thinking hard whether I'll ever go back to the one KOA that I really did like until they quoted one price when I made a reservation and changed it mid stay after I got there. Checked out after one night and moved to another campground. Received a customer service survey from KOA after we departed. Filled it out and explained the reason we left early. No one every responded to my survey response . . . not the CEO, customer service, manager of the offending property, nobody, until the KOA sales department sent out the renewal notice when my membership expired.

we have stayed at KOA's lots are they my favorite no but when we are in SLC there are basically two camp grounds one is a KOA the other is a private not franchise it feels like there sites are closer together than a KOA further out of where I want to be so I spend a lot of time at KOA in SLC for the most part nice but I feel that they are way over priced!

On my trip from north to south and back again, KOAs are perfect overnight stops with hookups and safety and usually dog parks where my 4-footers can get in some play time. So much better than Flying Js, which are also fine up north when no campgrounds are open.

There is one KOA back at home that I used to love because it is close to home, has a pool, nice views, nice hiking trail, good dog park, friends I know, etc. But now that I have hookups at my own house, I tend to stay there more often than not.

I have always liked KOAs as overnighters----look forward to them.

We stayed at the one in Lordsburg, NM because it was time to get off the road. It was ok for overnight but I still prefer state or local parks.
