Savannah is home safe

Postby Marslet » Wed Jan 09, 2013 1:04 am

I would like to thank all of you for your prayers for a safe flight to San Francisco. They got home, Savannah had a great flight, entertained the last few passengers with her laughing and giggling and "baby talking". She wasn't a happy camper when she got home because mama enforced the new rules now that she can crawl and pull herself up on things. First thing she did was try to fool with the knives in the dishwasher, so mama put her on the other side of the gate and she wasn't very happy about that
They went today and bought more gates to put up in areas (stairs) so she would be safe.
Thought I would tell you, we should have a dog keeping place in California. They picked up the pup[s (2) of them and had to write a check for
$1700 for 22 days. Dang I am in the wrong business. She said that hurt more than she thought it was gonna hurt. Tried to tell her she didn't need two dogs, that one would be enough, but wouldn't trade Beaux for anything. He is so cute and sweet. :D He was her "free" dog that they rescued from a hoarder. Drove all the way from Seattle to Portland to pick him up. My other granddog is named Layla, and she is one of those designer dogs that they paid $1000 for 5 years ago. They were so glad to come home, but enjoyed their stay at "The Ranch".
Again, thanks for all the comments and prayers. I will be trying to post some more pics later on.l

Glad they made it home safe. Their life, as they know it, has changed forever, now that Savannah is on the move.
And, OUCH! on the dog kennel fees! That's crazy money! Guess I'm just not used to boarding Sierra - I'd never go anywhere if I had to pay that much. Oh well, the price we pay for our pets...
I'm so happy you got to have your sweet Savannah with you for a while. I'm sure you treasured every minute. :D

That is one reason I'm glad we have the trailer. I shudder to think what it would have cost to board my 2 for 2 weeks, especially since they are large dogs and need larger kennels. Plus, Oscar doesn't eat well when away from us and Jazzy is almost as bad. As it was, they didn't eat as much as they normally do when we were traveling.

OUCH on those kennel fees! Holy Cow!

You are right about that's being a good business----unless you did get a dog or two that was sick and might die while the owners are away, or something horrible like that. I suppose the insurance to cover them is expensive. Wow----I haven't had to board any dogs for quite a few years now----probably over 30 years ago when I took a train to the west coast.

Glad everyone is home safe and sound. But OUCH on those boarding fees! That's almost $40 per day per dog...

Glad sweet little Savannah and her mommy and daddy are safe at home. Look forward to more pix.

Know about those kennel fees but that's outrageousl. Then again, my daughter lives in the SF Bay Area and it would cost her $40/day/dog to board and she has 3 - one is with me at the moment though. And, she's got almost 3 yr. old twin babies. That's why if need be, like last year's trips to Disneyland, she had someone come to the house. Think that was only $30/day/dog. Two local vet clinics in this area have just upgraded to big, beautiful buildings and now have boarding capabilities. Have used them a time or two for my almost 20# Shih Tzu.

Another good reason to travel in an RV - take the pups along.

Glad the little family made it home safe....Yeah, their lives have changed with sweet Savanah mobile! LOL! You can't wait for that crawling milestone and then when they do you realize you made a HUGE mistake wishing for it! I babysat my grands and great grands from birth to 1 year and then I take them back when they turn 6 or so and can carry on a halfway intelligent conversation. That's another reason I don't full time, I want to be here and spend time with the girls until they get to old to take a trip with grandma in the bus. Plus we have movie dates, sightseeing around here and cookie dates.

Yeah, it's 'spensive Lucy, to board here in Cali. I used to pay 25-30 a day to board my GSD when we went back east to see relatives. Now I just have the Chewmonster and when I can't take her my GD babysits. That was part of the deal when they got me a dog.

Really glad to hear they made it home safe and sound. Wow, that boarding bill was high! We had always been lucky enough to have family look after the dogs when we took off in the 5er. Mom and/or Paul always took care of all the dogs when we were gone. Except for Belle. She always went with us.

Now that Savannah is walking, the real fun begins. I always loved it when the GK's were toddlers. They are so much fun! They are fun no matter how old they are. Cannot wait to hear about your next visit with your precious grandbaby.
