Well that day is here. Saw all our family off at different times today. First to go this morning was our son and two grandsons as they headed out to Blue Springs, Missouri. They stayed for 8 days. Had a great visit.
The next to depart after lunch was my daughter, Candi, Rob and my darling Savannah. They are driving to visit with friends in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. Guess it is only fair that their other friends get to meet the baby. I was truly blessed with a great visit with them. They stayed for 17 days,. Their plane leaves New Orleans bound for San Francisco on Monday. Please keep them in your prayers for a safe trip.
Nana got her first two armed hug around the neck, first open mouth drool kiss (so sweet), she crawled for the first time while here, and she crawled that first time across the room to ME.(made my year) Today she is standing up, reaching her hand out for support and takes her few steps with help to her Nana,. Oh, and got my first Nanananana name calling. All in all, a wonderful time with great memories to store. Of course broke my heart and I was a basket case when they drove off.
Have to share with you, I don't remember a 9 month old having such a temper, this little sweet thing is gonna be Hell on wheels. Boy do her mom and dad have their work cut out for them. But guess the old retired school teacher still has it, because her mom and dad had to pull her away from the x box 5 or 6 times and as soon as they turned her loose, there she went again. Nana slapped her hands sharply, said, No in a very stern voice, and dang is she didn't sit up, turn around and look at me, when I shook my head no, she would crawl a pace or two, then look over her sholder and looked back at me, I shook my head again, and she crawled off and left it alone. Guess she knew who she could fool with and who not to fool with. Her mom looked at me with her mouth open and just shook her head. I fell out laughing in the chair., Told her mama, "Ain't nothing dumb about that baby. She is a smart little cookie" LOL

What a wonderful time & beautiful memories... And yes, she does know who is serious & who she can take for a ride - quite the smart little girl!

Yep, Nanas' have experience in the "NO" department.... ....they learn fast how far they can push with us, but it also allows us to do more spoiling later on

What a wonderful holiday time you had this year !! I'm so happy for you, that day when they all are gone is terrible, but the days they are all there is more then worth the bad time. I'm so happy for you that you were lucky to have such a great time.

Our wee little grandchildren are soooooooo much smarter then parents can believe, some wise up quick enough but we are all witness to those who didn't, when out in public in resturants etc. You sound like a smart grammy and she will love you lots,

Savannah is the cutest little thing, and I can understand how hard it will be to get over her leaving, but we all understand here. So pop in here from time to time.

Those little ones know exactly what they can do and who they can ignore! Smarter than their parents sometimes, I think!!

We ex- and current teachers have a different attitude than today's parents, also. My grandkids all behave better with me than with their parents, except one set of kids are both teachers, so those kids get away with a LOT less!

Good for you in setting limits so effectively. She will know you mean business. Smart, indeed!

My grandkids call me "Gammy" and they sure know when I'm around they can't get away with the stuff they do at home. My daughter tells them, "Gammy runs a tight ship." But it always makes me feel great when they fight over who's next to come to my house for a sleepover. My grandson, Aidan - 8 yrs., is the one who gets to come this weekend. Can't wait, we'll have a great time!

What a fun family gathering you all had! Lots of memories to think back on, and wonderful pictures.
My heart goes out to you. Grandbabies are the best and we sure miss them when they are away.

Yes, I have had a rough couple of days. Broke down when I found one of her cute little shirts that her mama left behind in the wash. But I know I will see her in Mid March for her big first birthday party her mama is planning. I am a lot luckier than her other grandma, because she hasn't seen her since she was born. We are both gonna be at the party and she has a aunt on her daddy's side who has never seen her that will be coming too. They all live in southern Florida, so not much chance of going to California regularily. I seem to be piling up the frequent flyer miles. LOL
Asking for all my friends to keep them in your prayers for a safe flight to San Francisco on Monday afternoon.

Sharlotte, she is just precious. I know you miss her a lot already and I am so glad you get to see her again in March. She does sound like she will rule the roost with her parents.
