No "Sea-Legs"? Don't Stand Up Quick or This May Happen...

Postby rvgrammy1953 » Tue Jan 01, 2013 10:45 am

Went fishing yesterday....was having a good time in the boat....we were catching those sea trout :D , but seeing how I'm a rookie standing in a boat, I was being very careful standing & moving around....afraid of falling over the side...well, got over confident...got up from my seat too fast, turned and tripped over the bait bucket, and fell back, thank God, into the boat....  ....naturally, put my right hand down to break my fall and here's the diagnosis.....

DISLOCATED BOTH KNUCKLES OF MY LITTLE FINGER!! :( :(

So now I get to wear a "Cotton Candy Pink" splint for a couple of weeks and have to go to the Ortho DR. for consult in a few days....

Never had a broken or dislocated bone in my 59 yrs., so guess I've been pretty lucky  But it sure hurts like the dickens....

Having to use the "hunt and peck" method typing...so may not respond in detail when posting for awhile, but I will be checking in with you all.... ;)

And poor Spinner has pulled a muscle in his back hip....so he's taking half a baby aspirin for his boo-boo

So, Ernie's doing the chores and taking care of his patients....

What a way to start the new year......

OUCH! Glad you didn't end up in the water, but that doesn't look or sound like very much fun.
Hope it heals quickly!

Wow Lori! At least you ended up in the boat and not in the water. Hope your finger heals quickly.

Ouch, Lori! What a bummer. Could have been worse, though...and just think - The Sultan has to wait on you now. Relax and ENJOY.
I do believe that's the first picture of you I've ever seen without a big, ol' grin on your face!

Heal quickly.

Oh no, Lori, NOT the way to start a new year. Love the pink splint though, and I know from experience that one can learn to hunt and peck very fast....I do it all the time (never learned to type).

Oouch! Not sure if dislocation is worse than a break, but you were lucky you didn't get cut or hurt yourself worse.

As an elderly friend told me many times, no leaping up after that "certain" age, so I have tried to take her advice. Unfortunately, I do not always succeed. I tripped and fell flat on my face, bruising my knees, a week ago. We all have to be more careful as we get older, although I don't think you are as old as I am.

The good news is that I am left handed, but you don't realize how much you use your other hand until it's put out of commission

...and Sultan is such a good cook :D no suffering there. Hope that the consult goes well and there are no surprises. As you mentioned...every ability our body has is valuable....and we learn to really appreciate them all whenever we have an injury. Heal up fast....
