Very good and informative report. None of the cards in my wallet are at risk. Now I know why I've seen some weird wallets to protect cards. Not so weird after seeing that report.

Read this quiet a while ago. And seen a new thing about it.
Also learned that if you do online banking using your phone that any account that you have used your phone to access and or linked your phone to is open for business by scanners. Also this ties into stores you using the chip in your card and your phone.
If you are using linked in or allowing your phone to upload your location at ? say a store or restraint this also puts you yourself, your phone and cards in danger.
There is also a ?? mapping thing that has been advertizing on Facebook so that you can "pin" the cities that you have been to. Using this mapping thing on Facebook it not only asks you to allow them to access your info but it also says that it will be accessing all your friends and their info. I have ended up having to unfriend about 8 people so far. I have nothing in my info to hide. But....... no one has the right to give anyone any access to my info except me or a representative that I so choose.
People have been and are screaming about to much intrusion into their lives. They were so freaking worried about a national "drivers license number". About big brother. I have had a national drivers license for years. Any one who hold a CDL license has a national number. But sorry. If you are alive, have a SS number, address, tele number then your info is out there. Also a lot of your medical info is out there to the right person.

Very interesting information. Luckily, I'm safe, but I'll be on the lookout when the cards expire and need replacing.
Thanks for posting!!

Thanks Lenora, I'm safe also.
BUT....seeing them wrap it in foil, reminded me of the pic that Mitch made of Sparkle/Jean with a foil hat!
Anybody else remember that?

You can buy on Ebay some foil-lined paper credit card holders. I keep any cards I'm carrying in those holders. Wrapping in foil works but is sort of a pain when trying to use card.

Who wants to carry around aluminum foil to wrap around your cards???? Or even purchase a special wallet?
Mine do not have that symbol, but it is interesting to note that most places in Europe have even better security than we do here in the U.S. It is called "chip and pin." Your Visa card uses a special chip and requires you to type in a pin number just as you do for a debit card. It cuts way down on risk, but U.S. banks just do not seem to want to adopt that technology because it would cost a lot of money.

It sure is upsetting when technology comes to us whether we request it or not! It's hard to keep on top of everything. Just yesterday I visited my credit union because the new atm card that came in the mail had a MasterCard logo on it. Previously I just had atm access only - couldn't charge. I insisted they give me one without the credit card (which I certainly don't need). I used my debit/credit card from my bank a week or so ago and the purchase went directly to credit without a signature, without a pin number. Had the same thing happen at a store one time. I thought perhaps it didn't matter which way it was taken out - debit or credit - since they both come off immediately, but it does matter! You need the pin number to debit. I was shocked to learn I didn't need any security anything to use it as credit. A crook could use it very easily if the card were to be stolen.
Now I'm going to go examine all my cards to see if I have a "hidden" chip! Yikes!

OMG - just checked and my bank cards DO have that insignia on the back! And they aren't even new cards! Hope some company comes out with wallets that have a foil type material lining or something because this appears to be something we're gonna have to deal with for a long time.

Me again! Talked to my techie son and he said that's the reason they came out with those aluminum wallets and card holders. I'm going out and buy one today and keep all my cards in it whether they have a chip or not!

This technology has been out for a while now and a lot of the new cards or replacement cards are coming with the RFID. I don't have any and ask my banks to send cards without. However, ALL new passports within the last couple years have RFID. I just wrap my passport in aluminum foil when I need to carry it with me.

That's exactly what this chip does.. Just swipe and go. I stopped by my bank today and requested they reissue my cards without the chip. They grumbled that the Youtube video is causing an unnecessary panic. Too bad. I wasn't asked if I wanted the electronic ID beforehand.

I know a lady who keeps her money (all of it) in the freezer and has no credit cards or bank account...is this what we're coming to?
