Might have screwed the pooch ...

I kept putting off winterizing my rig because of the wonderful autumn we've had. Then a storm rolled in and temps dropped into the teens. Last night my son ran the genny and set up heaters inside and in the utility bay. Today I drove 5 hours back to Salt Lake City and then another two hours to get my RV and set it up and in an RV park slurping juice until I can take it in to be winterized tomorrow.

Keep your fingers crossed. Hope we didn't do any major damage.

If you ran the heat, I don't see a problem. I've been in days it didn't get out of the teens.

Read the title, looked at which forum (thinking it was Jokes and Games), saw it was general and thought - OMGosh, what'd she do now????

I hope your rig is fine. It should be.

Okay, an explanation of "screwed the pooch." It is from the 1979 book, "The Right Stuff" written by Tom Wolfe about the early astronaut corps. But upon submitting the term to the google gods, I found I had remembered the definition wrong. Wolfe said it is test pilot jargon for submitting to panic. I incorrectly recalled it as making a fatal error.

In fact, I apparently DID submit to panic by driving 300 miles and spending an ungodly amount of money to "save" a rig that didn't need saving. Turns out my mechanic said I should have called him and he would have been GLAD TO GO PICK IT UP.

THAT, my friends, is screwing the pooch.
