We spent the day roaming around Alamogordo, NM. First to visit White Sands National Monument then tot he Space Museum and finally to a couple of the pistachio farms. White Sands is amazing. took lots and lots of pictures - mostly for me. The Space Museum also very interesting - lots I ddn't know about the space program. 28 countries were involved.
Also enjoying the warm weather. Tomorrow we move on again.
Did an update to the blog with some of the pictures.

And our adventure begins! Great post. I have never been to that area, but it has been on my list for awhile. I loved the video with flute? music. Good setting for such music. Thanks for all the photos and narrative.

Loved your pictures. Brought back so much of what I remember from when my Dad was stationed at Ft.Bliss and worked at the missile range. We were there from 63-65.

I lived there when I was three. My dad was a rocket engineer. I remember seeing those rockets taking off behind our house. I saw rockets so much that I didn't know what an airplane was the first time I saw one!!! We lived in an area of special housing that we found out years latter was radio active. Mom was pregnant and my brother was born there. Brother had thyroid cancer at age 9 from radio activity. Thyroid out, cobalt therapy and he is still with us today
I didn't remember the beauty. Now I really want to go back and explore. Thanks for sharing the awesome pictures.

Awesome pix Carol - thanks for sharing!! Always thought the white sands beach in Carmel, CA were white but nothing compared to the White Sands Monument. Have you been up (way up) on that mountain where the atom bomb was made (think it's Los Alamos)? And, very, very interesting .
