Deleted original. Thought about this post for weeks due to the fact it might cause an uproar. To each his own.

Yep. Had this as one of our protection items when sailing the Pacific where you could not bring firearms into any of the countries. It will definitely stop someone in their tracks.

So you shoot this at a person rather than into the sky?

Umm, I have some reservations about the flare gun idea. Would you be using it inside a rig? Risk of starting a fire? Interesting for discussion though. Along these lines, I often do carry a small air horn (also meant for boats) when hiking/walking alone because my voice is not strong.

I have an air horn as well - and it is usually in the truck. Wouldn't think of using this in a rig...mine is small enough to hear anyone messing with the door.

I'd rather shoot a person with this than a gun. Even shooting it in the air might cause the person to back off.

In 5 years I have never felt threatened. I did have to stop for a short period in a location once where I wasn't totally comfortable.

This kind of thing isn't for everyone, but I know it is here if I feel the need. If I'm stranded beside the road, I think this would come in handy if the wrong person stopped.

If that is what you are carrying for protection on the road?? And you are alone in your RV??? If someone is messing around and breaks into your RV?? What the heck are you gonna do???? Say hey, "I have a flare gun to shoot you with but I'm afraid to use it in the RV cause of fire. Can we step outside so that I can shoot you with it?"

If you are carrying anything to shoot someone with??? You had best prepare yourself to use it!!!! Why bother to even carry anything at all if your to dang afraid to use it!!!

It's like carrying an unloaded gun to a gun fight!!! A baseball bat made out of tissue paper!! Having a trained attack dog with no teeth!!

Please get some teeth for your protection! If you are unwilling to use the thing when necessary then get rid of it. ? Tho I suppose if you and your RV get swept out into the river or lake it might come in handy. Or like Sparkle and have the ocean knocking at your door.

If your carrying a 'gun' of any sort and are not willing to use it or can not bring yourself to use it? There's always that chance that you might be providing a weapon to someone else.....

I would much rather take the slight chance for a fire than get robbed, raped or killed.
