Need Advice - Class B/C Question

It's a good thing I kept my user ID of Ms"B"Haven. Looks like we will be sellling our 40' 4-slide Phaeton and getting a "B" 24 foot something. We were full-timers for a couple of years, but ended up enjoying Florida so much that we bought a double-wide park model and now call it home. So we really don't need the 40' anymore. We still want to travel, but not for long periods of time (except a 3-month trip to Alaska some day). I had a 22' Forest River Mercedes Benz diesel previously and loved it, but it was very crowded when hubby came along so we now want a 24', diesel, with a slide, with a Murphy bed.

We've just started investigating our manufacturer options. Yesterday we checked out a new 2012 Leisure Travel Unity and a 2012 Forest River Solera. Both are diesel and have a Murphy bed.

The next big RV show in our area is in January but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions/ideas for us to check out now. I know we won't get everything we want, but this is our wish list: 2010 or newer, 24 foot, MB diesel, 1-slide, Murphy Bed or a walk-around bed, full-body paint, a floor-plan where we can sit and be comfortable at the end of the day, walk-in shower, micro/convection oven, hopefully some usable outside storage.

Any suggestions are welcome. I just booked a campsite for the Florida GTG in January - wonder what we'll be camping in then.

.

Margie, can't help you at all, but I do have a question...

What's "full body paint"?
(I just would have assumed all MHs were fully painted...)

Hi Mitch - so good to hear from you! Hope to see you at a future GTG.

Full-body paint is a completely painted MH (a combination of colors in swirls etc.) with no decals. The other RV's are like white fiberglass with decals. In our opinion the full-body paint looks much better and there are no decals to eventually fade or curl up or crack. Full-body costs more but helps for resale. The big Class A's usually have full-body. I read of one Class B manufacturer has decided to make all theirs full-body paint. Full-body is much easier to keep looking nice and shiny.

Make sure you get a water heater that runs on gas and electric. For the size you want there are only the couple with Murphy beds and you'd have to go much larger for the walk around. So I think you have that covered.

For $3000 I could have gotten full body paint on Hope, but knowing where I like to camp and knowing that there are bushes there that are a good 6ft away that jump over and scratch poor unsuspecting RV's, I opted to spend the money on a washer/dryer combo and a few diesel bucks. After 7 years of camping in the desert, it was a good choice! :D

Dang!!! That Leisure Travel Unity one is sweet! Love the one where the seats lay down and you can utilize them as a daybed!!! Or use the Murphy bed.

I had to go look up 'murphy bed' and that's what my daughter has in her studio condo in Seattle...learned something today.

You go girl!! Hey we can put them both on your lot when I come down for the winter. My 21' and your 24', don't worry, I know it's only 1 per site but I wouldn't mind sharing. LOL I think you would get tired of putting the Murphry Bed up & down all the time. I saw one of those in Tampa last year and they are very cool. I would like that too. Good luck.
