Exciting gathering

Sarah had gotten to our gathering location ahead of me. But when I got here, we grabbed chairs and sat under a tree behind my RV for a visit. Vicki was due in so we were watching for her to arrive.

I saw a bunch of little birds, almost like hummingbirds fluttering to Sarah right. Made mention of this to Sarah. She then looked down, this is what she saw....

So Sarah kept an eye on him and I came in to call the office to send help. They did send two guys with a shovel and an axe.

ImageThis guy had 12 rattlers and a button. A pretty large rattler. Sarah and I both were lucky that the birds brought him to our attention and we were able to get some help. This is the guy minus a head.

Beth know these pictures are large, not sure how to make them smaller...cut them down for me.... Thanks.

When we first got here, Beverly told me right away to watch out for rattlers. Apparently, the day before, there was one in one of the fire rings. A guy saw it and was pointing it out to his kids to watch out for them when it struck and bit him. Been very careful watching the ground since she told me that. So far, so good. Haven't seen any.

OMG! :o Don't want to meet one of those beasties. Not sure but I think they can strike the length of their bodies.

Now that is pretty scary and I'm not scared of snakes but I would be afraid of that one!! So glad no one was bitten. Does any one make snake spray? :)

Ditto! I hate those critters. When I was 6 we lived in the hills of Corona del Mar, CA. Lots of rattlers. I was hiking with my cousins and had to pee. They told me to go behind the big rock. I did. I small rattler bit me on the butt! I like the grilled rattler. Its good pay back ;) Tastes like chicken

Gimme a good old garden snake any day. That seems to be the one thing I worry about heading out west when I can travel.

I drove in to see Nan standing on top of the picnic table (taking pictures was her excuse) and Sara keeping a safe distance up in the roadway (where she could see one coming sooner). When Sara said they were killing a rattlesnake I thought about driving right on out a here!! Decided to stay after all. No snake steaks on the grill but we did have a delish lunch in town today!
