In Arkansas

Morning Girls! I made it to Arkansas on Sunday, another 400 mile day, but the road was fairly good, the wind was light and I just kept chugging along. Majorly PO'd when I got here, I paid my rv folks 300 bucks to do some re-wiring on the coach and car so I wouldn't have to unhook the battery on the car so I could use the auxillary brake I already had on the car and when I got here the dang battery was dead. Grrrrr   They're getting a piece of my mind today! Can't get the transfer case on the jeep out of neutral if the battery is low. Just glad that I found out about it here and not in a cg. And yes, I took the key out of the car every nite so that wasn't the cause. That's what son asked me and I just gave him "the look". He apologised. He has a nice gravel pad for me with sewer and was supposed to have 50A for me, but he didn't have that hooked up yet....he's known for what? a year? that that was the plan. No biggy, tho, I still have the 30A and can use that just fine. I very seldom use both airs and any cooking I do I do in his house. He plans to get it done this week. I thought he only had 1 week off and had to go back Wed, but he has 2 so I'll get a nice visit with him. Had to wiggle around a bit to get the satelite in thru the trees, but finally got it. It would come in and then when I leveled I'd lose it again. It wasn't a necessity, but I'm still a little on Ca time so they're going to bed and I'm still wide awake, so it's nice to able to come back in the coach and watch a little tv before I sack out.

Okie dokie, off to try and catch up on posts, there's only 40 pages of them!! Happy Birthday to all of those, and hope this finds everyone well and traveling in good weather and safely.

Karen, yes, it's Enchanted Trails I stay at, didn't want to post that until I was gone for safety reasons, and Evie, you would have been more than welcome to come along, I don't mind slowing down for you. Speed wise you always keep up and it wouldn't have hurt me to take a couple of more days to get here! No HU's for you here, tho, and way to hot not to have A/C.

Sharon, I don't think we've ever had a trip where something didn't go wrong, but you'd at least thought a fix was a fix. Glad you get to spend more time with son. He was a great addition to our Arkansas gtg. carold

Sharon, I dont know much about towing wiring but I have an orange cord that charges my battery also when I drive as well as operates all my lights etc. Dont know if this helps but I have never had a dead battery. I have to pull my logic fuse so my miles dont rack up.

The lady has landed and Arkansas can begin the celebrations. I would enjoy hearing you explain your situation to your "I fixed that for you" fella. :o  Keep cool but enjoy your summer fun.

Sharon - you're cranky! Go eat something! Everything will settle down tomorrow after you accept that boychick is, after all, a male and you know darn well you can function quite well on 30 amps, and after you can complain to the RV guys and plan how to fix the problem.

Glad you made it safe and sound. Sorry it's hot and probably humid, but it's hot and humid back home, too. Settle in and enjoy.

I'll tag along another time when you aren't going quite so far for quite so long. How many little old ladies have the good fortune to have a younger little old lady drag them along on their adventures? And take such good care of them? Miss you already.

Oh, boy, I'll pay for that little old lady crack!

Evie

Glad you made it safely, sorry about the dead battery. One thought on that - I was told to start my engine every night when I stop - and let it run for 10 or so minutes (longer if I drive further. That the battery needs the charge - which it doesn't receive but uses when plugged in. Some nights (after really short days) I haven't done it - but do try to. Have friends who start the car engine every time they get gas. Just a thought. And I like whatever Karen is doing - not sure what her battery is charging from though.

That's supposedly what they did. Obviously they got it wrong.
