True or False hard to tell sometimes

I just told my DH that he shouldn't be freezing water in plastic bottles to take to the gym with him and he said he didn't believe there was anything wrong if you had the PET marked bottles. So I'm like well I'll Google it and show you what is being said. Well seems like there is just as many sites saying that all started as a hoax and that it is safe after all. So, I'm going back to freezing my bottles! Here is one of the links.

This is my third try to reply to your post. Every time I lose it when I try to submit!

My experience with freezing and thawing is that after awhile the water has a chemical taste. Sorta like using a garden hose for our drinking water when camping. It'll work over and over and then all of a sudden the water tastes like iodine. That's why we should use the white potable water hoses!

So, after 2 or 3 times freezing and thawing, I toss the bottle in the recycle and start over.

I have heard by those that supposedly know that none of those bottles were meant to be reused because chemicals can leach into the water.

I recently listened to a discussion with a scientist regarding plastic water bottles & chemical leaching. He said that the chemicals used to make the plastic bottle will, over time, leach into the water. The water reacts with the plastic bottles & draws the chemicals out. He said it's best to see if there is a "Use By" date on the plastic bottle & to discard the bottle when it gets to that date.
