$1.98 Gas!!!

Postby Bethers » Fri Oct 24, 2008 12:26 pm

Yep, I saw it - at 3 stations yesterday down in the Texas Valley. Sorry, didn't take a picture.

I saw one station on the way down into MX. When we were on the way back, my friends stopped for gas at a station with 2.06 as the price and I asked why they didn't go down the road just a piece, cuz it was $1.98, but he said he thought it was a fluke. Good thing 2.06 wasn't bad, cuz 5 minutes later we were passing the intersection off the highway where they were $1.98.

I really didn't believe I'd see gas under $2 again - so while the economy and my retirement bucks are devastated, I can better afford the gas at least.

Wow! I thought I was doing good with seeing regular for $2.19 (cash price) outside of Bartlesville, Oklahoma this morning. It's still $2.59 in Coffeyville, KS, although I saw signs at a couple of stations for $2.49.

I'm going to guess you'll be seeing $2.19 - $2.39 depending on where you drive across TX to the gtg - it's in the valley down by MX it's dropped so much - but maybe it'll come up to meet us up here also - sure hoping!

awww lucky you! I paid $2.87 last night. But NY has lots of taxes added on,... I'll bet just across the lake in VT it would be down to $2.50!

I pay $3.25 for propane here at the park I'm at in TX - so no where near what you said - and that's the prices as of early summer- hasn't changed so far.

It was $1.99 all through Joplin, MO today, and $1.94 in nearby Carthage, MO. I couldn't believe it only took $25 to fill my pickup tank that was 3/4 empty. We passed several stations that had been out of business for a long time. Most of the time, those prices are a whole lot lower than the present prices. Not today. Much higher.
