Hot, hot, hot

Oh jeeze it's been freaking hot here. Hot and humid. Been roasting my azz off at work for the past couple of days. I can't even tell you how many times I had to stop what I was doing at work and wipe my eyes so that I could see. I had sweat running into them like there was no tomorrow. Dang that burns too!

Don't know what the temp was at 1-2pm but it's 86f right now. Wunderground is calling for thunder storms tonight with a temp of 61. I got off work at 3pm, came home and let Shade out to P when she was done into the TT we went! I turned the A/C to 68 and promptly stripped to panties and bra. AHHHHHH! I still have the A/C at 68 but have put on a T-shirt and shorts. At least now if someone shows up at the door I can answer it without scaring them half to death!

WalMart kinda thru a monkey wrench into the works here. Come to find out Kelly had to do another day of orientation today. There are 5 of them in orientation and no one said a word to any of them about the 2 days of orientation. Good thing she ended up working on Wednesday her usual day off! If I remember correctly she said that she has tomorrow off. It's a bummer but she said she gets paid every 2 weeks too. We were both hoping that she would get paid weekly. But at least she will have a paycheck coming in. Her getting this job now couldn't have come at a better time. We will be able to pay things when due instead of doing multiple payments and it will help big time on gas to get to TX and back!! I might even be able to afford Micky D's McDoubles while on the road!!!

Son did not come down last night. He the girlfriend and G-son were all gonna come down and camp over for the night and then they and Kelly were gonna go to the park today. But son said he started work on the landlords apt at 7am and then had to go into his regular job until 7:30pm. He said he did a lot of work outside in the sun and ended up with a splitting headache and really didn't feel up to the drive down. Just as well he stayed home. Said his X wanted G-son back by 5:30 today so that sure wouldn't have given them much time to play. Wish we could all, the adults at any rate, get the same day off on the weekend and go to Splash Country, Dollywood's water park and play. I've got day passes that they could use so that we could all get in. And with me being an employee parking is free too.

Well yesterday they let Kelly off at 5, wonder if they will today? If so it shouldn't be to much longer and she will be home. Yesterday she missed her stop and walked the last 1.8mls home. Said she didn't mind the exercise but the heat was about to do her in! Looking forward to seeing how her day went!

Hope ya'll are having a super fantastic day today wherever you might be and whatever you might be doing.

I lived in TN for a couple of years and hated the weather there. I HATE, HATE, HATE humidity so where do I live? Texas!! Its been hot and humid here and doesn't cool down at night either. When you complain about the humidity in Kerrville everyone says "well, at least you don't live in Houston". I think you're crazy if you live in Houston. I keep reminding them I came from southern California and I'm used to humidity around 10% NOT 48% or 58% or 68% or worse. God, sometimes I really miss California. I have to remind myself that I can't afford to live in California.

It's getting to where we can't afford to live anywhere!!! Tho we were born and raised in upstate NY we love TN. Tho I do hate the humidity!!! The first 5yrs we lived here we didn't have A/C and the kitchen and our bedroom would get so freaking hot in the afternoon and into the night. Even with a big fan in the bedroom window it was uncomfortable sleeping. Here right up against the Smokey Mtns with all the trees and moisture the humidity is bad. I came home from work with my uniform soaked. My hair was drippy today at work but at least on the way home with the window down it 'air dried'.

Karen, here in N. Central TX, we used to always say that about at least not living in Houston. LOL. It has been a lot more humid here than normal so far this year. The other day the temp was 98 and the feels like temp was 111 because of the humidy. Will be so glad to head way north in the summers!

I agree. The humidity in Houston feels like a sauna. Even at 72 it feels like 95 and 90 feels like 110. I love the people, however the weather....

Try living in Houston with the A/C on the fritz. At least it didn't wait until August or September. We went to dinner and then to visit my friend in the hospital, walk in the house at 9 pm and it's 82 INSIDE :o :o :o . I guess I will be calling my A/C guy in the morning. Hopefully, they will be able to get me in. I have too much studying to do this weekend and need to be able to focus. I may be taking the laptop out to the Land Dinghy and hope the A/C works on house current. Actually at 6500 BTUs, it will cycle through as long as I don't have anything else plugged in.

I can remind you of that too! However, the weather here is wonderful! It has been in the low 70's during the day and upper 50's at night, almost too cool to even have the windows open all night. I worry about having to deal with the humidity in Florida, especially with my hot flashes  Altho, Minnesota has been just as hot and humid and stormy as Florida has this summer! At least the winters in Florida are decent!

Echo, My Consumer Ed Lesson for today! More and more companies are ditching the weekly pay checks and going to bi-weekly because it is more economical for their accounting departments. In fact since I started working for the state we have gone from a bi-weekly to a bi-monthly pay period. That cut out one pay period per year and I can’t remember how many thousands of dollars it was said to have saved. So I can have any where from a 10-12 day pay period and my March 16th check is often for only nine days because of February having only 28 days. The upside is that people who are paid twice a month become better budgeters and those paid once a month usually are the best budgeters. When people are paid less often they aren’t as apt to have the “eat chicken today, eat feathers tomorrow” mentality because they are forced to look at their finances in longer terms. There have also been studies done on the best day of the week to receive payment. Friday was the worst day because people have a tendency to splurge more on weekends. If I remember correctly the best days to receive checks were Monday or Tuesday. Class over!

Amen on the stretching of the dollars. We always were paid either bi-weekly or bi-monthly. You definitely have to figure it out. I liked getting the larger checks than being paid weekly. It seemed like it was easier to make bills and feel like there was a little left over.

Right now with not getting over 62hrs for 2 weeks we budget! Actually after paying for those necessary items there's not a whole lot left over to budget!! Kelly's job and paycheck will be a huge blessing!!!

I know that's true! It surely helps to make a living wage, which you definitely do not. As I have told you before, I really respect you. I really don't think I could do what you do. Having to work in those horrible conditions. I know there is just not the pick of any job out there. Echo, you are so to be commended! You are one strong lady!

I'm strong in some ways but not this. This is just doing what has to be done! Tho a better job with better pay and hours would be done ? happier! :D

Worked the front line today! It was even warm out front today too. The kitchen was like one humungous oven, took your breath away with heat every time you walked thru the doors. Didn't do a morning coffee post as I had to be on the clock by 7am and didn't have much time this morning cause I had to wash my hair before I left. Gotta be at work tomorrow morning by 8am and do dishes. I was suppose to have worked 1 to close tomorrow but there was a shifting around of hours and people and now I open. Mostly I am working days all this coming week which I like. I think I am gonna have to go to wardrobe and get at least one dress, pinafore and mob cap to wear when I'm working front line. Told the lead that I would also bus tables to get out of dishes!!! I don't think he really wants me to leave dishes!

Right now I am sitting stripped again enjoying the A/C and "chilling". Think I might have to break down and put a T-shirt on. The hair on my arms is standing straight up and I have a few small goose bumps going on.
