Update

You all know I've been MIA because of work, school, the Big C, among other things. But, now I'm workamping at a campground south of Denver and school is almost over, so I have more time to check in and dream of being in Alaska.

So, I'm loving my campground job and am doing maintenance. I was excited to learn how to drive the tractor even if it had the Honey Wagon hitched to it, but it has such a tight turning radius, the tire of the tractor damaged the wagon and put it out of commission. There was an old one that one of the other rangers managed to get up and running, but put him on the clock for an extra few hours and now I feel horrible. I was told it wasn't my fault because so many other rangers had done the same thing and it just happened to finally break while I was driving. The other workers here have been very nice about it, but if anyone else has tales of woe to share, I'd love to hear them, especially if they're worse than this.

And here I sit, eating my dinner of Fritos, cheese, and white wine.

Amy, I can sympathize. I love my new camp host job here at Chattahoochee Bend, but only one week into the job I put the golf cart out of commission. I got on it to drive down and check a site where a camper had just left. Not more than 10 feet down the drive I hear a loud pop. The left front tire had popped. I called the office and the ranger came down to take a look and just shook his head. I thought I had run over something but after looking at that poor old bald tire I knew it was due to happen. The ranger didn't say much just wrote some notes and left. Later that day he returned with 4 new tires for me. I feel like I drive a queen now when I'm riding, but I still take care about driving over sharp corners. Glad you're enjoying your job.

All in all it still sounds as if you are heading off into a good summer. We will be here or around the campfire to listen to the rest of the stories.

Hi, Amy! Sorry I don't have any stories to share, but it's good to "see" you again...and I love your dinner - just like something I'd have for dinner. Well, except for the Cheetos and cheese...

Hi AMY! So nice to hear from you again! I have been wondering what's up (or down) in your life. Sounds as if you have been busy and doing some fun things as well as working. Stay in touch as you meander, and don't worry----I am sure we all have some embarassing things to relate!

Such as the time I decided I would save some money and change my own oil and filter on my truck at the time. I was feeling very smug and proud that it was no big job, as I started the motor. Then I noticed oil spurting out all over the engine and all over the ground! After I shut the engine off, I noticed the large gasket that came with the new oil filter still on the ground under the truck where I had been lying! Talk about a mess to clean up! I never told anyone about this boo-boo until just now! And, no----I never changed my own oil again!
