turned on the faucets today to do dishes turned the water off to see what DH needed came back to finish running water in the sink
turned on the hot water (I usually use only hot water) and nothing!!! nada!!! so I complained such as wish the camp grounds would tell us if they are turning off the water went upstairs and dh proceeded to wash his hands he used a combination of hot and cold...no hot but cold oops sorry campground so here I am no hot water..
what to do ...thinking it's one of those easy fixes had DH done the proper maintenance all a long but unfortunately don't think that happened.
he is saying he thinks that it is corroded not sounding fun so wondering if any of you have any good ideas?

Sheila, are you saying NO water at all when you turn on the hot water faucet - or no HOT water? And if no water at all, and not from any faucet - could your bypass valve have somehow been turned? If it's just no hot water, then sounds like a problem with the hot water tank. First, do you have just propane or propane/electric and could you try switching from on to the other.

Beyond those things, I'd be saying call for service.

So sorry to hear this Sheila. I have no advice, Beth's response was a good one. You sure don't need this now. Your family are close, aren't they? Hey bet it's fixed before you have to worry much, I sure hope so.

If you get cold water only it could be a thermostat; easy to replace. Or could be the heating element; still not too difficult to replace. You can get instructions online on how to test and replace. Good luck.

it was a mere trickle of water coming through didn't run it long enough to see if it was hot...so told son about it and he came over today drained the tank and I had water even good pressure ...then tonight I turned on the bathroom faucet and the water was there then it slowed down to a trickle although better than it had been not sure what is going on but did have hot and yes it's the gas /electrical on can't do anything about it tonight and son is busy tomorrow he is getting a new sprinkler system put in and several people over to help with that will just have dd watch dh so I can go take a shower and heat water until ds can look at it again

Sheila, I sure hope your son can get this fixed for you. Water issues are the pits. I know when we got back from OK and had no water it was no fun. Wishing Good luck on it being fixed soon for you.

It could be trash in the water line. I couldn't get water to my toilet, called the repair gut & he blew air through the line. When the trash was gone the water flowed again.

trash? you mean like mineral deposit? Thats a good possibility.

Not sure where you are getting your water, but it is also possible that this "trash" could be very small stones and other mineral pieces that come up from a well or even a regular water line. I once lived somewhere where we had to constantly take the filters off of our faucets to get rid of the little particles.

Also, I had low hot water pressure in my new motorhome until they flushed it out when I took it in for some warranty stuff. Said there were small particles in the line. Worked fine afterwards.

Do you have a whole house filter somewhere? Or maybe just one on the water heater?

finally got a filter for the outside hose but again if it was a clog in the water line wouldn't that affect the cold water as well?
it's on again and off again so DH is thinking that sense he hasn't maintained the heater as well as he should have should we say to my knowledge not at all? that he thinks it's deposit built up that will have to be gotten rid of...hopefully our son will be able to take care of that.

I have been thinking about this. We have really hard water from our well and have to use CLR to clear build up in the dishwasher, coffee maker, etc. I wonder if there is anyway to get something like this into your water lines, let it sit for a little while and then flush real well?

probably would if one could figure out how to get it in thanks again

There has got to be a way. I wonder if you could add to fresh water tank and then pump into hot water tank? Am thinking about this too because of Paul/Echo's TT. Paul has pressure problems too and we have really hard water. I think will ask Echo when she gets here if she wants to try if Paul has not fixed by then.

If you can figure out how to get it into the system then I have no problem with it. ??? What about shutting off any water going into the TT and then draining all the water out like you would do to winterize it. Then add the CLR to the fresh water holding tank and then open all the inside faucets to get it into the lines then shut them all off and leave it set for a bit then drain again. Will probably have to flush out the whole water system a couple times to clean out the CLR.

That is exactly what I was thinking. It is the only way I can think of to eat away the build up. We will do that as soon as Paul moves up to Mom's. I know I have to treat all my appliances that use water and the shower head pretty regularly with CLR. Love that stuff.
