Here are my expenses to date (15 days since I left home - 2 nights at my sister's driverway):
Food & Miscellaneous = $316.36
Gas = $494.98 (1,800 miles = average $3.63/gallon)
Sleep = $142.18 (average $9.50/night)
AVG PER DAY = $63.57
Liz and Birdie are pros at finding free/cheap places to hang our hats!
These costs do not include food brought with me from home.

Seems like you're doing well in terms of camping/overnight costs. Other than staying at friends' homes, where are you finding cheap/free camping?

An iPad ap called Campwhere is very useful in finding city and county parks

I started keeping track of my costs after I caught up with the leaders. And know I don't have a running tabulation. One expense is when Carol stops to look for boots but she doesn't find any but Birdie and I both walk out with new hiking boots and wonderful stuff off the 70% off rack. Hey, I needed those flannel lined jeans or I will before this trip is out. This traveling can get expensive for many reasons.

We also all have our Passport America cards and they have "an app for that" and I carry the Trailer Life Directory and as a Good Sam member have access to there directory on line as well as the older hard copy. Then there is Woodall's, but don't waste your money on that one. And if you search and dig you can find all sorts of programs that list the campgrounds, some of the lists are free and some you pay for. Google is a friend with the technology guys so we are doing okay.
All but the kid also have the Senior Pass. She pays full price, we pay half for camping and nothing for entry.

Here's some of my year-to-date expenses, separated by Jan-March and then April till landing in Valdez.
1/1/2012 (Huntxville, AL) - 3/31/12 (entered NM)
RV Gas: $826.89
RV Miles traveled: 2103
4/1/2012 (NM) - 6/1/2012 (Valdez, AK - actually settled into my rv space on 5/21 - but nothing will change on this)
RV Gas: $1676.15 (this could be off by up to $20 - as I calculated the exchange rate/fees against my favor for gas in Canada, and I am parked with a full tank
of gas)
RV Miles traveled: 5481
Propane for the entire time: $74.20 (and I don't expect to need to purchase more before leaving here in Sept, as tank is close to full now)
Camping fees to-date (1/1/2012 - 5/27/2012): $808.59 plus TX SP annual pass of $70 = $878.59
Some info on my toad:
Jan 1, 2012 - 5/27/2012 - miles traveled 2220. Most of those miles were Jan and Feb in TX - 2 1/2 trips to MX and lots of trips around Corpus.
Gas: $273.26 (minus $40 that people gave me for being the "driver" - nice but totally unnecessary - brings my gas costs to $233.26)

I kept track of expenses the first year I was out on my own...that was when diesel was 5 smackaroos a gallon....scared me so bad I stopped doing it!!
Keeping track, not traveling, not to much is gonna keep me from doing that!
