Help Me Remember

Sometime ago we had a thread about sewer hoses and what you could put on the part at the motorhome to make it easier to get on and off. Don't think it was a grease, but sometimes it will not slip on there easily and connect.

Can anyone remember what could be used?

I don't remember seeing anything about something to put on the connection but they sell a sewer hose wrench that gives you more leverage to turn it. I use to have some slip joint pliers that opened up enough to fit the connection that I used. They were about 24 inches long. Tools have a way of walking around here and I haven't seen them lately.

Well Nan, I personally wouldn't try it, but Mitch swears by saliva. She says she just licks it real good and it slips right on! As we all know how nice and sweet and willing to help out she is, maybe while yall are in Alaska you can talk her in to doing it for your rig too. :P And while she's at it, can you purdy please get a pic for us?

Thanks, Vickie, I just spewed bourbon and 7 all over the computer!!

Nan, I recently purchased one of the 'wrenches' - only have used it once on the camper which is a devil to get to and it worked well.

OMG Vickie! Spew alert needed for that one!

What size (how wide) is that wrench? I have a plastic cap on my airbed that needs to be turned to inflate/deflate my bed but it is very tight and I just can't turn it with my bare hands. It is about 4 inches in diameter so am thinking a large wrench like that might work for me. Isn't that about the same width as a sewer hose?

Nan, I don't remember a post on it - and haven't tried this as I've never had trouble - but use silicon spray on my valve on the black tank when it sticks - best to spray it after it's out, then put in in and out a few times to make sure it all gets covered. Also, if your black tank valve is hard to pull out - put some dish soap with water down the drain - it really does help.

Anyway, silicone spray on the hose and connector might do the trick for you.

Vickie, that was outrageous - and yep, a spew alert would have been nice :)

THERE GOES MY BREAKFAST !!!!!! THANKS VICKIE.

THANKS ALSO FOR MY FIRST GOOD LAUGH OF THE DAY.

You all sure liven my life up, glad no one is at my door from time to time, when you and Mitch get going.
I'd be assigned a little white jacket and room all of my own, where I couldn't hurt anyone.

You're helping us all live longer,

CArol :)

I don't remember a topic on this, thats why I checked in this morning to find out something else I didn't know .

Nan, I have the red sewer line (can't remember the name) and had the same problem. I called the mfg and they said to use Pledge furniture polish in the spray can. Spray ends before attaching and works like a charm.

Shirl think that may be what I remember. Knew it was something that did not add in collecting dirt, etc. Going to try the pledge. Of course Vicki's suggestion would be a lot more fun.

Do they sell something like that at Camping World? Looks like it might work for my situation. Thanks!

Bought some Pledge and it helped. Never thought of polishing my sewer hose before. Do you know how many kinds of Pledge they have nowadays? Each one is has a special purpose, but none of them said it was for lubricating sewer hoses, so I just closed my eyes and grabbed one. Gives your sewer hose a nice lemony scent.
