Looking at Thor Challenger 37KT

With all the hours I spend watching Chuck sleep, I have been "shopping" RV's. When I was originally thinking that someday I might be RV'ing by myself, I could picture myself in a Class A. I have always driven big vans and SUV's so big does not bother me behind the wheel. I prefer it to a car. I have no problem with wide either because of the F350 Dually. When we were first told he was terminal, I thought I would just pull a 5er because we are already set up for that or a TT. With lots of time to think, now that we have settled into a new routine, a Class A is really more of a fit for me. That's what I wanted, but DH said 5er was the way to go and that's what we did. I really like the Challenger 37KT because of the "2nd bedroom feature" for my Mom. She would have privacy with plenty of room. The bunks in most units would not give her much area for sleeping. We could also pull her car as the toad because of her mobility chair ramp on her car. When the time comes she can no longer travel with me, I still like the setup. Just would not convert the livingroom area into a bedroom at night.

With all the above being said, does anyone drive a Thor Challenger MH? Am really interested in anyone's experiences with these MH's, good and bad.

No experience but your thought process.....makes sense. Now to find one to look at directly.

Dawn, we've never had a challenger but we did have a pinnacle and a fourwinds xl that were thor coaches and loved both. The pinnacle was on a ford chassis, 36' and was very well built with a lot of storage, great cabinet etc.. and the little touches made life in the RV very comfortable. The fourwinds was not as classy, 34', not the top of the line but it was well built, on a chevy chassis and fit our needs at the time. In fact we had the fourwinds for 8 or 9 years, lived in it while relocating twice, it was a good comfortable coach. That's my 2 cents, we would not hesitate to purchase a thor coach again. (our current holiday rambler admiral was built by monaco.. another good coach company)

Tina, as soon as I can, I intend to go look at one. The dealership is about an hour's drive from me, so it may be awhile.

Paulette/Mary, thanks for letting me know you liked your Thor rigs. I have not found very many complaints in my research. Not like some other MH's I have been looking at with bunks. I know all MH's are going to have some issues, but I have not heard of anything major on a Thor. This rig is at a good price point for me. I know it's considered an entry level unit, but without any kids traveling, it should hold up to just my Mom and me. I doubt we will be staying in really cold or hot temperatures. Neither of us is comfortable in extreme temperatures so the R10 rating should be OK for us. I definitely don't want to spend all the proceeds from selling our farm on a MH. Want to bank the majority since I hope to live a long time and I am just 58.

Just watched a video of the Thor Challenger. A very nice looking coach. It would be enjoyable to travel in, looks like a lot of inside storage. You get a thumbs up from me.

Thanks, Nan. I really like the floor plan. I know it's something I would be comfortable in both with my Mom and solo someday. Now looking at used class C's for my brother. We moved him here to the farm a few years ago because of his health issues. Chuck and I bought him a TT to full-time in and set it up for him. Traveling, he would be more comfortable in a class C than in that TT. No matter what I do, I have to take my Mom and brother into considration. He is saying he could tow small enclosed trailer with class C for more storage area. My Mom loves her clothes, LOL, and Paul and I are planning how to store her off season clothes. I have to plan on the costs of all that at some point. I don't know anything about class C's so anyone's opinion would be welcome.
