Picked it up yesterday!! Yea!

Picked up my new motorhome yesterday--took over 3 hours for all the paperwork and the walkthrough. Glad my son was there to listen also, becuase I can only remember about half of what the guy said! I drove it about 80 miles to his house, with only one teeny, tiny "event." Had one of my need to get to the restroom really, really fast episodes, so called my son who was driving ahead of me and know his way around that area. He led me off the expressway and into a McDonalds, right past the No Trucks sign! Luckily, I was able to find a double parking spot, and ran into the restroom. Whew. Even better was that with his help directing me to back up, I was able to get out of the parking lot without any problems.
I would have pulled over somewhere, but I had no toilet paper with me and we had not put any water in the system because we were afraid of a hard frost in the next few weeks. I am SO looking forward to having my own bed and toilet with me!!
We set it up overnight in his driveway and let the two older kids play in the overhead bunk. I could not believe how many TV channels we got just with the antenna, but I almost forgot to put it down before we moved it the next day to the storage lot. I unpacked all the towels, sheets, bedding, and kitchen stuff I have been collecting in piles from all my sorting and getting my condo ready to sell. Also, my tools, rug for the door, and other stuff.
So it is just going to sit until the last week in April. I am going to try to take a week off from work if things are slow, or at least a four-day weekend. I can drive down there and go off somewhere to try it out. I only need some foil, plastic bags, paper plates, a stool, and some food and I'll be all set. I also need things like a very small waste basket and drawer dividers, which I ought to have enough of already if I can just get rid of some of my junk here in my condo.
They unfastened the big dinette, but left it in place. We decided my son did not have enough storage in his basement, so it will stay where it is until late April when he'll move things around to make enough space. I will need to work on repairing the holes in the floor and wall so they don't show so much, but I can't bring my recliner down until I move. I can do some short trips without it, however.
Very exciting but tiring weekend! Will post some pictures later when it is less of a mess inside.
