Spring Cleaning..time to shovel out winter dustbunnies!

Some of you are so energetic and tackle projects before they are out of control. I was once like this, the computer has made a procrastinator out of me, gotta blame it on something :? 'Motivation follows action' applies to me... I decided to start on the big garage, the one I built for my RV and boat. Boat is gone now, and RV is still around but slowly being squeezed out. I dusted and swept out yesterday. It does look so much better. Mel put his old vintage VW in the garage during the winter where he was going to rebuild the engine. He tore it down and there it sits. I gave him 2 weeks to find a new home for it, after this period of time I will make a call for someone to pick it up. I got the garage looking pretty good except for this eyesore. Mel decided a while back to make a contribution to the effort and all I could see he did was put my bicycle up on top of an old bird aviary out of my reach.. thanks, Mel
I am still toying with selling the house, buying a larger motorhome, building a nice pad at my son's for when I'm not traveling. While I am deciding, and then when I start running an ad in the paper, I will start painting inside. I will go with neutral colors. This will be a slow project and I will do it in very short stages, like take the pics off one wall at a time, move the furn, paint this wall then put back in place before moving to next one. If a potential buyer comes along they will see the results of my cleaning and painting, hopefully increasing the odds for a buyer. This is a perfect place for dog owners, nice big fenced in yard with doggie door. I'm about 8 miles out of the city limits and have adequate distance between my neighbors so the barking doesn't disrupt.
Today I will work on the house garage and utility room. I have clothes and household items ready to take to consignment store. I can only take 20 items, hopefully will stay motivated and take 100 items per week for awhile, yes I do have this many clothes, many bought at the consignment store
I am hoping writing this down will help keep me 'taking a bite out' everyday.
Keep me posted on your projects too, maybe we can stay the course. Those of you who have all this behind you, running around the country, please don't rub it in!

Good luck with your plans! When we sold our house we didn't paint the inside as that is usually the first thing a new owner will change, you can always say you'll allow so much for them doing it. But of course taking down all the pictures and removing personal items & clutter is the big point they make on HGTV so guess you would have to fill in the holes and paint some. We had very few pictures up which seems strange since my DH is an artist. The thing I did was bake Jiffy Corn Bread right before a showing  and have a small vase of flowers on the kitchen table.

I painted my condo one wall at a time when I was laid off from work about 6 years ago. (I do not do well when nothing to do.) I DID pay someone to do the cathdral ceiling, however, since I am not that ambitious.

You just have to approach it as if you will do just that wall. Then the next one, etc. That's how I have been cleaning out drawers and cabinets--one at a time. Otherwise, I would never have got started. I have about half of my belonging thrown or given away, but I know that when I move in 2-3 months, I will have to go through a lot of stuff again.

I think one of the big reasons why my condo sold so quickly was that it was in good shape with a light colored paint. I did a lot of removing stuff and touching up walls, also, which I think helped. I miss those photos and stuff, but will have to get used to it.

Back to work....
