Exterior Colour help!

Postby SueW » Wed Mar 21, 2012 4:55 pm

Hi everyone.

We're going to be painting our Boler soon and I'm soliciting opinions on exterior colour. Take a look at:

http://www.jamestowndistributors.com/us ... thane.html

and let me know what colours you like, in combination. My "ideal" requirements include:

* easy to clean (bwaa-ha-ha-ha-ha)
* not too "girly" and not too "blah"
* two colours

I was leaning towards white on top with yellow on bottom, but I'm getting some flak from hubby. He wants all "off-white". (Talk about "blah").

Thanks!

Do you want something that will match your tow vehicle? & Do you know what your interior colors are going to be?

Some times it depends on how long you intend to keep your rig.
Neutral colors tend to be easier to sell, " unusual " paint jobs may be more difficult.
I thought of many odd paint schemes for my fiberglass, but in the end I will opt some variation of the eggshell.
Good luck with your project!

Seattle Gray and Ocean Blue!! :D

Then again It will really depend on your interior colors. If your going blue inside then the Ocean Blue would work well.

Please! No purple or orange!! YUCK!

That is correct, but at this stage of my life I'm wondering why I always have to think of what someone else will like and deny myself the joy of completely enjoying something I've paid for.

I was going to ask what your tow vehicle but was beat to it :D
also what are you fav colors? and that is a point as to the resale value
so maybe give us more ideas as well as hubby's sounds like he is into the blah
so how can you compromise? Do you have a awning? does it need replaced?
if so do his boring and you do a pop with color on the awning

I like Sheila's idea but also think white or off white and dark blue or white and red would look good.

Mine is white aluminum with decal swirly stripes in dark blue and gray. Maybe do a neutral and paint a "decal" stripe?

Various shades of gray are popular and my last MH had those colors, with black swirls and it was beautiful! Just wondering what it costs to have a MH repainted? I would love to give Myrtle a makeover ;)

I agree with the resale value though. I would say go with the off white and do some decal strips or swirls like Kathleen mentioned. Also like Linda said, greys are beginning to come into fashion. One suggestion would be to look at some manufactuer websites and see what's one the new rigs now. Some are very eye catching. Many times you can repaint and reorder decals from the manufactuer or if you want to design your own, there are companies out there that make them. I've often thought of getting an outdoor scene for the ack of my TT as other than the name of the rig, it's pretty blah.

I've ordered from these folks a couple of times and have been very happy with them

Medium Grey background with Kingston blue and black accent looked nice on the sample...
but I also agree why do we have to look at resale... do what colors you love and let another person paint it their hearts desire...
Yikes that red one sure stands out... when you would come home late you could find your place in a second...

Super neat pics of Boler trailers and others of course. But gives good ideas on colors.

Long URL but I have no idea if I could shorten it or not, sorry.

Thanks all, that's very helpful!!

Even browsing the pictures on the Google images was good... nice to see what else is out there. Thanks for pointing me in that direction.

A couple of you asked about the tow vehicle. Ha. That's another long story. Can you say, "Bought the trailer first, will buy tow vehicle next"? :)

I'm shopping for a tow vehicle... but it won't be a radical colour. For the trailer I was leaning a bit towards white on top and yellow on the bottom for the colours because that would go with pretty much every tow vehicle colour I'd pick... hubby thinks that's a little "girly". I'm kind of thinking the whole mini egg-shaped trailer is kind of girly, so what does it matter?!?

As for the interior, well, it will coordinate with the exterior!! (First things first - if I have to paint the outside first, might as well go that route.) And then the cushions/drapes will coordinate with the interior. You see my Grand Master Plan?

I would go with a light color on top and a dark on the bottom. Owning a boler, I would think any color combination you choose would be good and would not hurt the resale value. They are adorable units and there is a market for them. Go bold and make it your own. Linda
