Just a short note to let you know I made it okay today and am now getting settled in my new home for the next two months or so. Have already met at least ten people—very friendly and helpful. I’m going to explore the city a little tomorrow and take some pictures. Got here a little too late and it was raining.
So, more tomorrow.

Didn't I read last year that Coffeyville, KS is at the absolute dead center of the United States? It was in the news for some reason ....

I believe that center location is why Amazon put their warehouse there - makes for smart shipping. Will patiently wait on you getting settled, Chris - then showing us the neighborhood!

I'm not sure about Coffeyville being in the center, but it wouldn't surprise me at all. Before I get the pictures on Photobucket, which takes forever lately, here is a little information to whet your appetites a little.
It's been raining quite hard here today and last night – sounds nice but very loud on the roof. At least the Verdigris River hasn’t flooded again, as it did last summer. There are high water and oil marks halfway up the tall pecan trees here at Walter Johnson Park, between the river and the refinery.
