Feathering my nest...

Even though I haven't purchased my new motorhome yet, I am packing up and thinking of things I need. (The kitchen thread has been a great source of info!) It's really fun--sort of like getting a hope chest.

I'm thinking I would like to get a small, lightweight canister vacuum cleaner. I will only have carpeting in the bedroom, but it would be nice to able to vacuum the front floor of the cab, the coach floors, and the basement compartments, and also to be able to suck the air out of those storage bags. I am thinking of one that has at least a couple of attachments and uses bags.

Any suggestions?? I lifted a couple in KMart the other day, and they seemed too heavy.

I have had several of the stick type vacuums and they didn't work very well. I would also like to know if there is a portable one that actually works. I have always used the Sears canister vacuums for my house but the one I have is too big to carry around unless you have a lot of room. Some of the larger RV's have a built in vacuum. I wonder how well they work.

I'm on my 3rd vacuum in the rv and finally like the one I have. It's a Eureka cansiter - Eureka Rally 2 - small, inexpensive and while it doesn't have the power my house ones had, it picks up Peaches fur and works on both the carpet and linoleum. I got it maybe 2 years ago now and so far love it. It uses bags, so fits your criteria. I saw it at Walmart one day and didn't buy it - then it kept being out-of-stock at all the stores I went to - finally found a store that had it.

My rv has central vac, and it works quite well! Doesn't bissell have a new one they have been advertising? Or is it Hoover? Converts from upright to hand held. I don't know if it has a bag or not though. My house vac is a dyson animal and I love it! Well worth the money I spent on it with the animals!

I have a Eureka Quick Up that is a stick vacuum and turns into a handheld. It has the canister tho, but it really works great even on cat hair (has the rotating brush to pick it up). It is light weight, compact and has a long cord.
