Campground in Florida Keys - Need Suggestion

I have given up trying to get a state park campground reservation in the Keys for next February. I have gotten up early and online several days in a row and just can't manage. I did get a place at John Pennekamp, but want some place further out on the keys for another week.

Can anyone recommend some place near Key West that does not cost $100 per day, but is in a scenic area, but in a safe area. Also, near public transportation would be wonderful.

Thanks

I'm sorry, but every place I know of in the Keys is Military only or very expensive, especially in February. I'm sure there's something, I mean, even poor people wanna go to the Keys! However, the public transportation comment you made pretty much rules out any bargains. Every town that offers any amenities at all down there is a tourist attraction. Your best bet may be to call or even cruise down there after John Pennekamp and look for cancellations.

Maybe try Sunshine Key in Big Pine Key. Everyplace I know is expensive.
