Seems the price of fuel goes up hourly and is reported to hit the $5 mark for regular. I don't check on the diesel but suspect it's climbing, too.
I am wondering how the gas prices will affect everyones summer travels? Especially those trekking up to Alaska.

I'm getting a couple of horses. Hay's cheaper than gas...

Actually, I figure I'll keep trekking northward until I become a bag lady, or I max out my credit card...

This poses quite the problem. Wait and see if the prices will come down. Highly doubt that. Or go ahead and travel knowing that prices are going up and they might be cheaper now. Everything I have been reading points to increased prices for a long time. Quite the catch 22.

If our Alaska travelers get suck on the west coast, just think of the massive GTG that will go on. What a happening place that will be. Linda

Paid $4.15/Gal for regular for my car here in CA a week ago and it's probably gone up since then. Remember a couple of years ago when we paid way over $5.29/Gal for diesel for the MH.

I am planning like Mitch....only I don't expect to max out anything. I will do without other things... as long as the dogs have food and I can get their vet bills paid, I am good to go! And thank goodness I can do my own grooming. I think of that every time I bend over the bath tub and/or pick up those clippers. When my back gives out completely, I'll have to give up some gas money to make them purdy!

I am collecting drink cans to sell. That should help put gas in the tank. Think wine would burn in the tank? Another thought would have my dogs pull us along like sled dogs. Don't know for sure, but will make it somehow.

I paid $3.99 for diesel this morning.

It will probably cut down on me going out of state and RV more close to home. I have 3 out-of-state GTG planned for this year(I will attend). I am not sure if I will plan anymore for out-of-state. Just have to wait and see.

The only difference it might make to me would be to opt to stay in a beautiful place a few more days instead of filling the gas tank every day. I can handle that.

Here's my thinking - Do I like prices being higher? Heck no! BUT I'm not changing my plans for this summer because...wait for it...who knows what it will be like NEXT year. Gas prices, health etc etc.Besides it's all part of my master plan to DIE BROKE

Kelpie, think you about said it all. Lots of places to set and thoroughly enjoy where hopefully my summer is taking me. At my age, can't afford to pass up or wait for anything and besides all my kids said enjoy and spend it all, sooooo I'm gonna try

When i went to Germany yrs. ago, what a shocker at their gas stations then, that was 1992, don't even want to think of what it might be now.

Whatever our own personal situation and thoughts are, is what we will all be able to do from now on. This winter, glad I brought so many groceries with me , am wondering what my grocery stores are at home, prices here are way high in my book, and what I'm used to, but I have mind made up to price hikes at home too..

Times are changing, just gotta go with the flo and do the best we can. For each of us, that will be a different route or story.

I got diesel yesterday for $3.90, which is the closest cheapest. Have not seen what it is at the TA Truck Stop, but I bet it's more than that.

No plans to venture to CO this year; however, we will be traveling about 100 miles into PA to attend a Montana rally in June. That gets me some windshield time without breaking the bank. I also plan some day trips sans 5er to explore the area a bit more. Glad we're static and enjoying our work; however, if we really wanted to head somewhere like CO for a break, I bet we would.

Life is too short to not reach for our dreams, of course keeping everyone fed while doing so!

I've told "The Sultan" that no matter what, we're doing our trip west!!! I, too, believe that postponing because of the gas prices is useless...if we don't go, who knows if we'll ever get the chance again...Life is short.....It just means we stay long than originally planned (good thing he likes my WY sister and hubby... ) and that we have the advantage of being able to stay at military campgrounds which tend to be a little less expensive....but are few and far between on the trip out going along the northern route, but alot coming back the southern route....more eating in than going out....etc......"Westward Ho".....here comes RVgrammy & The Sultan.... I just read a post from an "expert" from 2 1/2 or 3 years ago - that they reposted in it's entirety because the $5 gas was predicted that year as well. Well, I think we have a better chance of it this year - but have been listening to these predictions for years and years. Someday they'll come true and maybe that's this year. Just like all other prices that have risen - I'll live with them, and maybe cut corners a tad here and there (staying longer instead of traveling on as quickly - but that's what I like doing anyway ) And I do believe Kellie really summed it up well for me. And CArol. And so many others. I'm not trying to leave anything behind - watched my Mom's money disappear to doctors and then the nursing home - before medicaid kicked in totally. Well, would rather it be gone and let the Medicaid kick in immediately - come that time - which hopefully is a long way off (specially since I'm not old enough yet ...)

Well, I unfortunately will have to cut back on the RV scene for a while. Expenses are just too tight for me right now. I'll be working at the park again this summer and that will help keep some green in the pocketbook. After that who knows. Gas here is $3.69 at present and I know it will go up as spring heads to summer and the "tourist" season starts.

I've got money set aside to take my big dream trip the year I turn 65. That was to be my big birthday present to myself. Hopefully things won't get so out of whack that i can't do it. Will have to wait and see, but as others have said, we will do it anyway. In the meantime I am going to just sit tight, keep food on my table and gas in my truck and see what happens here.

No Nan...Not the Wine!!! That would surely be a last resort! LOL!!!

Diesel is $385.00 here. Heard on the radio today Fredericksburg is the cheapest place in all of the Hill Country, but I'm not driving 22 miles to go get it!

Carolyn, so glad you are still planning those out of state trips. Your TX sisters are already going thru withdrawal from not seeing you for so long!

Kellie, I'm with you too. We don't travel extensively that often, so it is a priority!

For myself, I'll wait and see what happens. Just got done shelling out for the Jeep, blue ox and stay and play brake system to haul it (and let's not forget the labor! Normally, I would have a larger cushion and wouldn't think twice about it. However, I'm gonna live on the edge and boondock a lot more this summer. Normally, I like my full hookups. But I will make that sacrifice and I don't eat much.
