Pigeon Forge campgrounds

Gads, in the email packet I got from Dollywood was a list of 18 campground to check out as a place to park/live for the season. I am having one heck of a time finding people to talk to. I looked at them on line and 8 of them I crossed right off the list for one reason or another.

I have managed to talk to someone at 2 of the parks. One of them is really nice and Kelly and I both like the looks and amenities. For the season they charge $433 plus ele. The other one is $400 but have no pool and internet connection is crappy per reviews. I have emails out to 3 others, got my fingers crossed that I might hear back from them tomorrow. One or two of the parks say they don't take ANY reservations until April 1st. Big freaking deal as I am suppose to be there on March 26 for orientation. ~sigh~ I don't dare leave it to long as they only keep a few spots for long term use for Dollywood employees. Be a kick in the teeth if I can't get something at least halfway decent or not or all. One campground advertises itself as "Build by RV'ers for RV'ers but they had NO bathhouses or laundry facilities. Sheesh!!! I have never heard of a RV campground without a bathhouse. I guess you sure the he77 would go there in a popup camper!!! Or a small A-frame. Looked at one that was super fantastically beautiful with nice amenities, pool, creek, lots of shade trees, bathhouses and a creek but it's on the other side of Gatlinburg the drive each day from there to Dollywood for work would be miserable because of the traffic.

Wish me luck everyone on my calls tomorrow.

you got the job at Dollywood? that is terrific had missed that what will you and kelly be doing?
good luck with finding a campground that you can enjoy was that $433 for the whole season or per month?
Regardless not a bad price...and it really doesn't sound like the campground built by and for rv'ers was really that way
no bathhouse?? strange I use them so I don't have to worry about using all my hot water.. :)
have fun making all the decisions

The $433 plus pay for ele was monthly. Kinda ouchy when your only getting $7.40 an hour! It's a good price over all for the area but still!!!

I am the only one hired at Dollywood. Kelly has a real problem wearing shoes. Her feet get so hot that they break out in blisters, crack and bleed. Well should say one foot. And it doesn't matter what material the shoes are made of either. We've tried canvas and leather. Normally she will wear crocks so that she has ventilation.

Got an email back from Eagle's Nest Campground. Monthly rate for Dollywood employees is $90 per week. The email didn't say anything about having to pay extra for ele but I will double check on that tomorrow when I call. They might also have need for a workamper? I mentioned Kelly in the email I sent to them and let them know that she cleaned bathrooms!!!  So we will see how that goes. Maybe if they hire her we will get a small discount for it!!! YAY! Worth hoping for at any rate.

Yeah I've never heard of a campground that didn't have some kind of bathroom facilities. What the heck do ya do if the toilet or shower breaks?

Hope you find something suitable.

After reading some of the rabid RVers at rv.net, you would think sleeping in a hotel bed or using a community bath house would be the surest way to the plague. I guess that's what meant by built for RVers

Echo, Ive stayed at Eagles Nest, it is really nice. Also River Edge which is right in town, maybe even walk to work? It is really nice too, and convenient to things. It might be more expensive, but ask if they have a rate for employees. Wendy

If they (cg) are on Dollywood list, then you can catch the Dollywood shuttle to & from work. There are several ppl in this park who work for Disney in winter and Dolly in summer and they use the shuttle. You may want to ck on that to see if that would benefit you. You will be getting great benefits from Dolly from what I hear, better than Disney. Benefits like tickets, major discounts at places to eat and things to do in the area. Good luck.

I did get an email back from Eagles Nest campground asking me to call. As I mentioned in the email that Kelly will be with me and just maybe they might have need of a workamper who is not afraid to clean bathhouses, they said they might also be interested in her! BUT, I am still checking out campgrounds.

I did find the one with NO bath houses is http://www.upthecreekrvcamp.com/faq.html the info about no bathhouses is under the FAQ section. It's a really nice looking one but as far an I am concerned not having bathhouses and such is a huge downer!!

Have called Eagles Nest but got no answer so sent another email asking them to call me again as I had goofed up and transposed 2 of the numbers for my cell when I sent the first email.

I will look again at Rivers Edge. Thanks for the heads up.

ps. checked out rivers edge. they give no monthly or seasonal rates so it would be $43 per night. $1290 a month, nope!!! pretty campground but WAY to costly for me!
