Neat pix Beth. Thanks for sharing.

In this area there's also a portion of the beach where people can drive their vehicles on the sand and actually campout right on the sand. I've never driven on the sand there but have walked that beach many, many times - and it gets very busy especially on holidays.

Loved the pics of the bridge and the USS Lexington. Thanks Beth.

I so want to camp 'on' the beach. But will try very hard to NOT do a Sparkle!! ;) My luck I would end up out to sea for 30 seconds and then under the sea!!!

What's great on this beach is that there are miles where you can camp. Then, there is also camping at the city park on the beach - and at the state park on the beach (for fees). Lots more on the beach this winter than I've ever seen before. Must be something to do with the mild weather this year. And the beach road is very drivable. Course, yes, you have to watch the weather and tides - things can and do change.

Looks fantastic. I know very little about Texas and have only driven through it a couple of times on the way to someplace else.

I will keep this in mind for someday when I do want to visit that coastline. I am assuming that this is a good winter location, right? At least for those of us who do not like too much heat and humidity??

It's always humid in TX - but much less so in the winter. It is a big "Winter Texan" destination (which is what Texas calls their snowbirds. But the temps will vary depending on the winter. Mild winter this year, very mild. But wetter. They need the wet, though.

I forgot to mention the "winery" we went to. Not really a winery -but you do get to taste their wine - it's a place you go to make your own wine with their kits - loved it - but won't be here long enough to do it. Next time I'm anywhere with one of these places and with a couple months - I'll do it - even if I'll have to give a bunch of the wine away :) Hopefully I'll have others with and can share the cost. Fun fun fun.

Lori, I sure remember going to the Brewing Co with you and Ernie.

Sharon, Joe's Crab Shack is one of the few chains I'll go to - but down here I go for the local places for seafood. Actually, whenever possible I go to local. But when not in a good seafood town, nothing beats Joe's :)
