Summer 2012

So, I know a lot of the sistahs are doing the trek to Alaska this summer, but was wondering who might be around in the mid west this summer. I'm starting to plan out my summer road trip, which initially will be from here to Houston to reunite my gd and her dad for the summer. From there, I'm not sure yet. I know I won't come home till after I return thru Houston the ends of July to pick gd up and we will then go to NC for the annual Brandon family reunion before we come back home to get ready for school. I'm considering maybe driving to NV to visit a friend, or up to Indiana Dunes State Park again and visit with my son who lives in Chicago. Or maybe even both! And I'm really hoping to be able to meander a lot instead of hurry to get here and hurry to get there.

So, just thought I'd put this out there and see if anyone was going to be around the lower 48 this summer. Maybe we can meet up somewhere or other.

I'm planning to take a friend to the Delmarva Peninsula; she wants to see the Chincoteague ponies & Assateague Island. After that we'll knock off 2 items on her bucket list by crossing the Chesapeake and going to the Smithsonian and the National Zoo. We figure we'll take at least 2 weeks, more if she feels well enough.

Geesh, Paulette, will seeing you this summer. Do you still have the Tiffin or did you get Class C? Just wondering what you been up to. Maybe we will connect in 2013 when you make the trip down here. Maybe we can plan a Galveston Island GTG and do some kayaking on the Texas Paddle Trail by starting bayside at the Park.

Lori, when are you guys going to be at Canyon Lake? We are having a GTG late Oct early Nov out there. Would love it if you and Ernie could make that GTG.

 Well, as for me. I will be working at Otsego Lake State Park again, so if anybody's coming through MI, let me know. Otherwise no exciting plans for this summer. Probably the usual camping trips to my usual parks. Not making any plans till I see how the new boss is going to schedule us as far as hours and days off etc. are concerned. Won't be doing any traveling till I retire although that GTG in October in TX is mighty tempting. Will have to see what ensues.

Birdie, I'll miss you too as it was good to meet you last summer! Lori, I'm gonna check my schedule and routes and see if there are any connections there! As far as going to NV, I'm still not sure about that...everything is carved in jello at this time. It's good to see that there are so many options available out there! What a great forum! And yes, I still have the tiffin. Haven't found anything else, and haven't really been looking. One of these days though I will definitely downsize.

My plans so far are the Texas GTG in March and the Pink Flamingo GTG in April. If my grandson gets to come to his dad's this summer I will stay around to be with him which will probably be the month of July. If you come through South Louisiana on I-10 and want to do something I can meet up with you.

Well dang!!! Will miss a few of you that's for sure. Kelly and I have pretty much made up our minds to head east toward home. I'm hoping to work at Dollywood and hopefully Kelly can get a job at one of the tourist shops in Pigeon Forge. Wish she could work at DW with me but with her feet and not being able to wear shoes full time it kinda kicks that in the butt! ~sigh~

It will be soooo good to get back into TN and see my son and grandson. :D
