Yesterday I visited Yosemite to drive over Tioga Pass and see Tenaya Lake frozen over with ice. Pics are on my blog here...

What a nice trip, but it does look cold.

loving your blog, Diana! Wow on the frozen lakes with no snow. Pretty neat!

BEAUTIFUL pics, Diana! And how rare to have smooth ice with no snow cover, eh? It had to have been cold, however, prior to that day, to have that river mostly frozen over, too. I said I was going to do a blog this year. I guess I need to start NOW! I need to relearn how to do it all.

Thanks for sharing this trip with us.

I have only driven that road once....in the summer. I could go back in a heart beat!

Gorgeous, Diana! I knew it would be....I could be sooo jealous, but instead, I'll just add that to my list. Thanks for the tour until then.

That is just awesome!! What an amazing experience. The photos are really beautiful. Hopefully, I will get to see that area someday (in the summer at least!).

By the way, the rumbling you heard is from the ice expanding/contracting. Kind of sounds like thunder as it rolls across the lake (especially when it expands from the cold). It always used to scare me even tho I knew it was safe to walk on.

Great pictures of the area. Amazing that it is open this time of year. Didn't realize the Sierras haven't got much snow. One year the first of June the roads were still closed and we had to change our trip plans.
