Sign Of the Times

Postby kdmac » Wed Dec 07, 2011 8:46 am

I realize this forum is not supposed to be a place to vent ones political or religious views, so I won't do that here. But, wondered if anyone else has noticed the trend that "Google" has toward celebrating events, science, literature, certain people, and some benign events in their "face page drawings that play with the word Google". They too appear to harbor the new climate in America part of which is anti-military, I even go so far as to say, anti-American. American milestones are largely, if not completely ignored on their facepage. Labor Day was ignored, Veterans Day was ignored. It came as no surprise to me at all that today, December 7th, "Pearl Harbor Day" lest we forget was ignored. ...........God Bless America!

Thanks for pointing this out! I don't stay on their page long enough to observe this is going on...I will from now on and after I let them know why, I will switch to another. You are so right, this is very Un-American, another frog in the pot example of how we are being led down a road we hardly knew we were on.

Never use Google....maybe there was a reason why???

Did the other search engine home pages mention it? Personally, I don't expect my search engine or email provider to remind me of what being an American entails.

I have to agree with Joan. I don't think I've seen anything anti-american or against our military which would upset me. Maybe we need to keep in mind that Internet pages are used by the world not just Americans which may be why they only cover more generic things.

I use MSN and one of their news stories is about Pearl Harbor. I use Google so seldom and guess I never pay attention to their heading. I have heard some of their headings mentioned but never did go to see one. Most of the time I'm not very observant and most things go over my head.

Bing has a photo and links about Pearl Harbor today. They always have photos about the important things going on nationally and across the world.

The greatest majority of search engine users are our youth (Google is by far the most used of all of search engines)...I too do not need or expect my search engine to remind me or educate me of what being an American is, but I also don't need or expect it to educate our youth as to their point of view of what America is. The foolish frog in the pot didn't have a clue what was going on around him, all of a sudden he found himself in a very bad situation.....

Google DID do Veteran's Day and our Independence Day. On Labor Day they had something Global. (You can go back and see by going to the Google home page, leaving the search line empty and clicking on "I Feel Lucky".

I've always enjoyed their "doodles" which is what those are called. And I completely agree with Colleen's post.

Yes, you are right, I stand corrected. I am 59 years old and still haven't experienced menopause. I still have the monthly visitor with all it's glory. I woke up to that today and went online as usual and bacame insensced, beyond the norm when there was no doodle for such a day as this one in Amercian History and started flapping my jaws, or fingers as the case may be. I will try to behave better next month. I agree with Colleen too, well said.
