And why may you ask is it a YAY Birdie Sunday? Because Birdie turned me on to her magic antenna and here I am out in the middle of nowhere, where I've never ever been able to make phone calls without going out and getting on top of a high dune, getting on-line and making phone calls!! Thank you, thank you Birdie!!
So as you can see, I made it out to Mammoth Wash, 17 miles south of Niland, Ca just fine. The road we used to come in on out of Niland has been washed out for several years and we had to go 100 miles out of out way and come in thru Glamis. My jeep club sent out an email that the road had been re-done, was good, but was soft in places, so when I got to Slab City, I got on the 2-way radio that our club uses and was able to reach on of the group and he came out and waited for me at the soft spot and led me thru. Rough, but do-able. Hope was a trouper and just chugged on thru. I'm sure by the time we get ready to leave next Monday it'll be to soft to go out that way and we'll have to go around again. Weather is beautiful so far and I'm anxious to get the sand car off the trailer and hit the dunes.
Hope everyone has a loverly day, I need to get busy and finish setting up camp and get the car off the trailer. I didn't have time to finish greasing him and I was to busy socializing yesterday to even finish getting stuff set up around my camp, and Chewy is looking at me with her legs crossed. I figured she would sleep in long enough for me to finish this, but not so. Poor baby! Her mama is so mean to her!
