Back Home Again

My sister and I took our little travel trailer to the Smoky Mountains for two weeks. We have had it out several times before, but never for longer than two nights at a time. Overall, the weather was beautiful most days and I have great pictures that will be posted as soon as I figure out how. We even survived two days of rain, followed by frost, light snow, a little ice on the roof, and some freezing temperatures, if only briefly. We were quite proud of ourselves, being from Florida!

I was sad to return home, but my sister said that while we were coming home today we had more fun trips to plan. Good attitude, don't you think? She is right, we need to find a camping spot for Thanksgiving that is close to Gainesville so she can go to the Gators game that weekend. Any recommendations for the Ocala area?

Silver River SP in Ocala is wonderful.

Glad you had a great trip.

Might verify with Liz, but I believe the name of the state park where she hosted last two FL gtgs was Silver Springs.

Silver River State Park in Ocala is beautiful, but check availability. I'm guessing it will be full, especially on a weekend.
Going north on 441 is Whispering Oaks, a private park where Kathleen stayed last winter. It usually has spots available. Continuing north to McIntosh,I stay at Sportsman's Cove at the end of Avenue F. Nothing fancy but usually has a couple of pull-throughs available, and the town is adorable, 1890s style. Still closer to Gainesville is Paynes Prairie State Park, another nice park...but again, check availability, especially on a game weekend.

Welcome home. Glad you had a great time in the Smokies. Looking forward to seeing all the pics.

I visited the Smokies years ago and want to return in my RV. It is such a beautiful park.

Liz, thank you for the leads. I will start checking this weekend. A game weekend combined with Thanksgiving may make it tough.

Sharon, we have a couple of trips in the works during the next few months. Wekiva Falls Resort in early December and somewhere in the Keys after Christmas. Of course, there is the Florida GTG where I am looking forward to meeting some of you.
