Drama Fairy is Back!

So today I takes me and Libby down to DMV to get her legal. I'm there for 2 hours, then have to go outside and wait in another line to get her Ca check up to make sure she's legal to be here. Guy looks at all the numbers, checks milage, then has me lift her lid. Guess what? She's an illegal! Now, I double checked with the manager in Tx that she was ok for emissions for Ca, and he assured me she was. So on the way home, I'm very loudly calling him everything my extensive vocabulary (and after working with all guys for 18 years it's pretty extensive!) can come up with. And then some. So I call my buddy the cop that has a house in Az and Ca and asked him what he does....he registers in Ca. He said to register it in Az using a family address for a year and hope I don't get caught. Yeesh! So then I call the Jeep dealer here and he checked the vin # (DMV never checked the number) and said yep, it sure enough is legal. But there's a sticker under the hood that says not for sale in Ca! So he gives me Chrysler's number, I got a very nice man that checked the vin and said yup, you're legal and not only that, I have a warranty to cover it if there are any problems. So I now have a case number and a promise of a phone call tomorrow to see whats what. I then mentally apologized to Joey the manager, gave him a call and told him what was going on and to expect a call from Chrysler tomorrow. He pulled Libby's birth certificate and verified AGAIN that she was ok for here. He said it sounded like Chrysler put the wrong sticker on it and it could just be a matter of them mailing the dealer here the right sticker. I'll believe it when I see it.
Stay tuned for further developments in the drama department.

I was going to post a reply to your "drama" but I just couldn't...I could'nt let myself get wrapped around the axle about how NOTHING EVER SEEMS TO GET DONE CORRECTLY BY ANYONE ANYMORE!....DMV doesn't even check the VIN #?? Chrysler may have put on the "wrong sticker"??, people "may" call you back???. Sounds like a bunch of guesses and nothing concrete so you, the 'victim', get to wait even more to find out what "guesses" eveyone will have tomorrow and learn how many hoops you get to jump through in response to them. When I read it I felt "anquish" for all such similar situations I have had to endure...all of that just riles my inards so that is why I wasn't able to post a reply to you, I just couldn't let myself go there...sorry, I haven't ignored your drama I just couldn't let myself get riled.

Actually, I'm ok now after the initial spurt of anger and angst. Seems everything about buying this car has been an uphill battle and if I just stay calm and centered it'll all work out. Anyway that seemed to work in Tx. Didn't mean to get you riled up, it's kind of funny in a way after all the rest I've been thru. Breathe deeply and we'll get thru this, too! :D I absolutely love this car and now she has a name, so it'll be ok! It's just the way this whole trip has gone, but I really thought the Drama Fairy had left for good. Guess she got bored.

Me thinks Libby should be named "Fairy" or "Queeny"! As in Drama Fairy or Drama Queeny. It kind of just follows you Sharon. But I want you to know that I am certainly glad that you took it with you out of Texas. Now if you would just take this danged 40 mph wind that is coming thru with a 'cold front'. We may experience our first freeze of the year!!!!! Guess you left us that too!!! Sure is good when you come visiting us and real interesting when you leave us. We just never know what all you are going to bring and what you are going to leave. Kind of like a Santy Klaws.

It will all work out and be right. The thang is you gotta to do their jobs for em girl! Now go kick some booty!

Well, you can't say I don't have fun and manage to at least post some interesting stuff! I was running on the 10 with the wind on the way trying to avoid the 60mph gusties up on the 40...guess it finally made it's way down to you. I had nothing to do with the freezing temps!! Windy here today, too, but at least Hope was parked in the driveway safe and sound. Yup, kickin' booty if I don't hear from them tomorrow! :D Sure do love Texas and all of my Texas buddies!

I'm sitting here with my jaw dropped as far as it could go that the DMV would go by a sticker I mean, couldn't anyone but any sticker on anything? If that's the case, I would think there would be big traffic in stealing those stickers and putting them on illegal for Ca vehicles. Seems to me they should have automatically been putting the VIN into the system and checking that way. That said - it's a govt thing - and why would I expect anything the govt does to make sense?

Glad you are taking things calmly now. And I bet you were swearing up a storm initially. Yep, I can just hear you now.

Think I heard that "blue streak" you let out earlier. Glad things are looking up.
That Drama Fairy appears to have an evil twin back east.

Don't get me started on the DMV either. I worked for a farm supply and my boss started buying surplus army trucks and turning them into fertilizer spreaders. Try getting one of those licensed. It wasn't long before I knew more about what had to be done than the DMV near us but would they listen NOOOO. It was easier to go to Baton Rouge than deal with the locals. I have to say that our local office has changed their attitude. They are down right helpful. Someone must have reminded them that they work for us.

Just think how much fun you could have had if you had made it home with a vehicle that didn't match the paper work. Hope you can get this sorted out without having to hurt someone.

We have had the wind all day and I think the front finally got here. I was trying to leave my ficus tree out for a few more days but it kept blowing over so just brought it in. Sure hope we get some rain out of it.

Yup, we all have DMV stories. When I went to register my Roadtrek, the computer said it was a pickup. I said no it's a camper van. The woman was insistent , until I suggested she come outside and take a look. I think that going outside invitation gave her pause. You all know how threatening I look.

Many years ago I had to register a vehicle that we purchased in Europe. The country of origin would not release a title because that was their law, and provided a letter from the government saying so. We had a bill of sale from the dealer and proof of purchase/payment, and a foreign license plate. The DMV would not give us a title or a license plate no matter what the country or origin's rules were.

So we shopped around, contacting several different offices, until we found one that would do what we needed.

So you might try going to another town and starting all over again. What tag???

I think that you need to make a Drama Fairy Doll and stick pins in it!

I think Judy has a good idea. Take that sticker that they don't like off and go to a different office.
