And the Drama Continues!

I'm seriously beginning to think this whole trip is jinxed and maybe Jack was trying to tell me something when I had so much trouble just getting out of town! LOL! Had such awesome fellowship, food and sightseeing with Carolyn Patin-Jones, Martha (Acadiamom), Karen S. and Nancy in Breaux Bridge and then woke up in the middle of the night Wed the 24th throwing up. I was supposed to leave Thurs AM. I told Karen that I wasn't going to be able to leave, to sick. Went back in the rv and every time I took a drink of water, I hurled. Bent over to give Chewy her pill, hurled. Tried to lay down, hurled. At that point, I suspected food poisening. Got a call from Carolyn, seems my little Magpie friend Karen had called her. Told her how sick I was. Couldn't sleep in the bed, couldn't lay down without hurling, even tho there wasn't anything in my stomach. Slept for 3 nites in the recliner sitting almost upright. Stomach felt like it was on fire. Found an old (probably really old) Prevacid in the medicine chest and took that. That seemed to help with the stomach pain and the hurling. Finally managed to drag myself to a walk-in clinic on Sunday and the doc said probably either ulcer or gall bladder, but definetly not food poisening or flu. Good, at least I knew I wasn't contagious and hadn't infected my new found friends. He strongly suggested I go across the street to the ER and get tests. Didn't even charge me. My solution? Go to Walmart, get more Prevecid and try and get to son's house. I'm now in Ajax, LA, nice little PA park, quiet, and thinking I'm going to spend one more night here and rest some more. Feeling a little better, and haven't hurled in 2 days, so think I'm going to live, altho at one point I would have had to of died to feel better. I've never been so sick in my entire life. I think at this point I just need to get my electolytes and blood sugar straightend out and I'll be fine. I have to be, I have a cruise in 10 days!! I really think I just overloaded my system with rich food and she rebelled. Big time.

A big huge shout out for my guardian angel, Carolyn. She brought me emergency supplies of soup and Pedialyte, called twice a day to check on me and was there if I needed her. I wouldn't let her in the coach, in case I did in fact have flu, but she dropped stuff on my doorstep and wouldn't take the money I left there for her. She took a lot of time out of her very busy schedule to take care of an ailing sistah. How would we survive without our friends? Well, we probably would, but it sure wouldn't be easy or pleasant.

More big shout outs to Karen for tattleing on me to Carolyn and calling several times to check on me, and one for Birdie who emailed me and offered to come to me if I needed her. Martha for her offer of help, Phone calls from the Vickster, too, worried about me. You guys are awesome and have all for sure earned extra stars in your halos.

Carolyn and I came around to see if you were okay on Sunday night, just a drive-by since your lights were out and we hoped you were sleeping. Sorry I was so close and didn't get to meet you but even sorrier that you have had such a rough time. Hope things getting back on track for you but isn't too late to see a doctor yet to make sure you don't have more problems while you are on the cruise.

Glad you are feeling good enough to get on the road again. We better never plan a trip together because I am known for getting sick on trips. Must be all those strange bugs. I went to the Natchez home tours one time and was sitting on a curb throwing up in the gutter and It wasn't from drinking. Thank goodness I was with friends. I think we took the motel's bathroom waste basket for me to use on the way home. Got sick in New Orleans one time too. Hope you can get well for your cruise.

Martha

Thanks for checking in, Sharon. I was wondering how you were doing and how far you had gotten. Maybe while you're in "Ajax", you can, um, get your system cleaned up!   Stay safe and keep in touch.

Oh Sharon - you poor thing. So sorry you are so sick. Sounds like you're on to recovery?? I know what you are going through BUT I was in my home when we all got a similar thing a few months ago. My daughter and my twin grand babies (15 mo at the time) were visiting and all of a sudden my granddaughter started projectile vomiting and didn't stop. My daughter who was not feeling 100% herself took grand daughter to ER. We thought maybe food poisoning too. The ER gave her some pills to stop the vomiting. Then we all (except my baby grandson) got it big time - some going from both ends at the same time. Those pills from the ER really helped all of us. None of us had ever had anything similar. And, we are in CA. I would NOT have liked to be out in the MH traveling and be sick like that.

Please take care of yourself. Bless Carolyn for bringing you the pediolyte - helps. Get better. Lots of rest too!!

Again, take care Sharon!!

Linda

So glad to know that you are feeling on the mend. That is scary sick. :? From the sounds of it, you couldn't have been in better hands unless you had let Carolyn in the RV to hold your head. I had been worried regarding your silence but then your back up support had not posted regarding finding your body either. ((((( hugs ))))) and take care. You need to get your strength back for future adventures of a more positive kind......

Poor thing! I hate being sick and to be on the road makes it even worse! This will be a trip you won't soon forget (hopefully, tho, the good will outweigh the bad!). Just get rested and re-hydrated for the cruise. Take it easy until then...

So glad you're feeling somewhat better. And kudos to the sistahs who checked on you and came by to help. Can't say enough good about this group of caring friends.

As for you....and the reason you didn't take the dr.'s advice and go get checked at the ER is???? It could have been something really serious; you were probably dehydrated from all the vomiting, etc. I certainly hope if the symptoms return you will not try to medicate yourself and get those tests done.

Hope there are no more dramas before the cruise....that will be drama enough!

Tree guy are on break and I just stopped to see what's going on.
Thank goodness you were with friends.
I've had 2 gall bladder attacks (about 15 years apart) in my life and don't think I've ever had anything so miserable to get passed. An old country doctor gave me a cure that he said works about 80% of the time and when successful avoids surgery. It worked for me both times. (Both of my attacks were triggered by rich greasy food that I was not accustom eating - so be careful with that.) The simple cure is to eat plain canned beets including drinking the juice for about 3 days. You can add some fresh lemon juice if that helps you get it down easier. Something in the beets helps flush out sludge in gall bladder. Jean (Sparkle) tried this too and it also worked for her. Good luck and please keep us posted.
Chain saws going again, have to go back out.

Gosh Ms Drama Queen, surely there must have been a better way to get all those sistahs to wait on you  So glad you are feeling better and able to get on the road. Hopefully it was the rich food and nothing else. Surely, there must have been an easier way to lose weight before the cruise  No question, this is a great bunch of gals to have around in any and all weather :D :D Rest, and then rest some more. carold

Okay, Sharon, I was starting to feel a little jinxed but no more!! Hope you are done with all that! Might have been good to get the tests done tho.... :) I'd suspect your system just didn't like all that great food you were eatin' - and that I was jealous of. So nice of Carolyn to look out for you and glad she was nearby. No more drama, please.
