Late Trip Report

Postby sharon » Fri Aug 19, 2011 9:18 am

Well, I made to Vickie's, but not without my usual drama...But first I spent 2 awesome days with Birdie at Stephen Austin State Park. She was able to get away for a couple of days to meet for a short GTG. I was so bummed that I wasn't going to get to see her, but bless her heart, she made it happen. And she cooked me a great steak dinner when I got there. We also discovered a great new taste treat....she made a fruit salad to go with dinner and as we started eating it, she said wait a minute. Went to the back of her rig and came back with a bottle of white chocolate liquer. Oh Wow! talk about a taste bud explosion! We (well, she did, I waited for her to try it first  ) poured it over the fruit and was that good! We both sent our lady manners outside and drank the last of the liquer from the bowl. Had a great visit, she came up with a couple of ideas to shade Hope's front window, so off we went to the auto parts store. Bought some dark window film, and after managing to wrap myself in it trying to get it on the window....it works like a charm! Sure was nice yesterday morning driving over here to Vickie's. I cooked Wed nite, wasn't all that great, but filled us up. One of those frozen things you see in the store that looks good, but....Let me just say don't buy the TGIF chicken and cheese! :D

So anyway, back to the trip to LA...stopped on my way out of the park to check the car, somehow managed to lock the steering, got back in Hope, and she wouldn't go. Crap! Back to the car, now I've got everything in a bind, key won't turn, Man I'm hatin' life!! Finally managed to get the wheel turned enough to get the key on, started it, everything seems fine, made sure this time the key was on acc...and made it in to Sulphur. Turned into Vickie's driveway and bounced the car over a bump, I thought it was going in the ditch, so I nailed it and made it in. Ronnie the Wonder Man is sitting in the garage laughing his butt off, so I just kept inching Hope closer to him....he stopped laughing... Soooo, don't have many pictures, but here's what I've got so far:

Another day here visiting with Vickie and tomorrow (Sat) I'll be near Carolyn Patin for a few days of sightseeing, eating and visiting...Sure hoping Martha can come down, too!

Gotta love how your trip is going from mini gtg to mini gtg :) Just love it.

Thanks for letting us know you're still alive, Sharon. ;) Looks like Birdie didn't park right next to you -- maybe that a safety precaution on her part!

Nah, that was my screw up....funny how those sites look really small sitting up high, but when you get down on the ground, they're a lot bigger! LOL! Birdie was already there when I got there and was the smarter of us....she picked out a shaded spot. Duh! What was I thinking????

Yeah, Beth, that was my plan this year, visiting folks and seeing different parts of the country I hadn't seen before.

We had stuffed bell peppers last night and survived, tonight we're going to a seafood buffet, so she's safe! (meany)

I think I had one of those "hatin' life" moments on my first trip. Guess I might have more to look forward to in my future.

Glad to see you made it this far! If you are real nice to Vickie, she might try to find you a shady parking spot.

Glad you are safely parked at Vickies and that you got to spend time with Birdie. Hope you all enjoy the seafood buffet. And like Birdbybird said, selective memory is wonderful.

Waaaaaaa - I want to be there with you! Keep blowing that darn gray cloud East, GF. It's sister cloud is still back here. FINALLY got Flitter out of the hospital - fridge working and have new skid wheels on the back. THEN the car had to have struts and new tires: $1500+! Same week. We should be able to declare these things as dependents!

Enjoy visiting with everyone. I'm heading out to the Grape Festival today - wine stomping, music, entertainment, etc. If I taste any wine it better be from a bottle! I'm not into tasting wine from the stomping vat! And I don't care to have purple feet, either. I just know if you were here you'd try it! Stay out of trouble!
