Backyard Project

Greetings!

I've been thinking about replacing my old faux stone waterfall for over a year. I've had it for probably 6 years and it's tired. I replaced the pump about 6 months ago and it's more powerful than the old one, causing the water in the tiny pool to evaporate very quickly. I had a drip line in there but it couldn't keep up with the evaporation. So I decided that this summer was the time to do something new. I had a vision and Felipe had the brawn to help get it done.

Here's the old waterfall:

I wanted to put in a pondless feature, largely because the space I had was too small to do anything else. Here's the first step in the process -- digging the hole and getting the tub to sit at the proper level:

Once we got everything level we set the stone on top of the grate and got the fountain regulated:

And then the fun began -- getting the plants put back & stones on top of the grate:

If I don't say so myself, I think it looks pretty darn good! In an ideal world I'd have put in a little stream, but there just isn't the room in the flowerbed. But this has a soft, sweet sound, and it won't need to be filled up twice a day. I'm happy ... and pooped. :)

Really good job such an improvement over the old one. Noticed that Karen is looking for place to put one now. Great excuse for you to head to TX for a visit.
