I Made It!

Well, somehow Horizon Seeker and her crew made it across CT, over the Tappan Zee Bridge, and into New Jersey. It was an interesting experience that I am glad I survived and don't wish to repeat. The weather was so hot in CT that we pulled off the road into a Walmart near New London around 2 in the afternoon and just napped until around 10pm then made the drive over the Hudson and down the Jersey Turnpike. I don't really like to drive at night (especially through NY and NJ with a toad that I have way too little experience with) but seeker kept wanting to run hot so I had no choice. All's well that ends well. We are camped (or should I say parked) in an RV park just across the water from the Statue of Liberty. We can actually see her from the dinette window! She was worth the drive. Tomorrow we will take a ferry out to Ellis Island and do a little of the touristy thing before heading toward Maryland on Friday. Not letting the moss grow under my tires on this trip. My next trip I plan to really slow down!

Well bless your heart Vickie! I didn't like that drive in a car 40 years ago when I lived in NJ and I sure as heck wouldn't like it now in an rv! Brave brave woman!!

More like a foolish woman, but thanks for the vote of confidence. I decided that while I was this close I would do it now. Don't know when or if I'll get this way again. And it was easier late in the evening with less traffic. Were the roads this bad 40 years ago? I thought every screw in the rv would jar loose along with the fillings in my back teeth.

You did good. I stayed in the rv park your in 4 years ago and did the Statue of Libery and Ellis Island tour - and loved it. Hope the cooler weather is there now that just came through here and is to be here for the next couple days. Will be so much nicer for you.

Hope you have it checked why she's running hot. That's scary

Safe travels.

Beth - I took it in for service before we left on this trip and I told them it was running hot. Had to have some kind of manifold replaced which they assured me was the problem. Will take it back when I get home and tell them they ain't fixed it yet. Will try to drive early morning/late evening till I get home which should be first of the week. I'm beat but I finally get to say I stood at Liberty's feet. What a day!

I'm sure having the hot humid weather we've experienced hasn't helped. Hope the cooler, less humid days right now help with you getting her home and getting her to the folks who didn't repair her right the first time! Good luck. And yay, you stood at Liberty's feet.
