Fifty-nine years ago, it was the longest day of the year. Just ask my mother!
I've been buying myself BDay gifts for two weeks now.
Since I've been riding my bike, my KNEES are so much happier. I can wear heels and walk up and down stairs NOT like an old woman. My Nook has me reading again -- the the book "The Help" shamed me into cleaning my house.
It takes what it takes.

You have inspired me! I am getting a bicycle for MY birthday (next month) and I sure could use some knee help, too. ALso some TUMMY help! ha!
Also I just purchased a nook color and I will go order that book, The Help (?) was that it? straightaway!

Good for you, Janice. I really admire your tenacity when it comes to taking care of yourself.
Birthdays can be bittersweet for those of us who are alone. Finding our own way to celebrate is important, and I think you've done a great job of doing something that makes you happy.

Hey, don't discount the value of bicycling on toughening up your core. My abdomen and lower back are much tighter already. And I have a bounce to my step again.
