Ballin' the jack

Pulled up at home about 7 o'clock last night after "ballin' the jack" for 8+ hours. I had done an extra overnight in Baker City, OR, Sunday due to crazy high winds. Woke the next morning to beautiful blue skies & calm winds. Thought I'd just make a run for Salt Lake City 'cuz NOAA predicts winds here today thru the rest of the week.
It was a great drive -- had tailwinds thru most of Idaho ... and I'm exhausted. Just backed the Escape Capsule into the driveway (threaded the needle thru the chain-link fence gate), put out the slides and we're ready to start unpacking & cleaning.
Having done that, I'll just plug the thing into 110 to keep the fridge running and put my feet up. LOL.
I cried as I left my "special friend" on the island. I honestly don't expect anything to come of it. But we had a good time.
Anyway, now that I have an Internet connection again, I'll be a more participatory forum member.

Good thinking to get out of the wind. Then the tail-wind helped on the gas mileage. I wish you could have had fabulous weather in the San Juans, it's so beautiful there but nice weather makes it even more beautiful. Sorry about your tears, that is just plain difficult to leave someone. Hope you exchanged email addresses, etc. Maybe absence will make his heart grow fonder and he will decide he needs to see Utah...

Thanks, KD. The thing is, I know what it looks/sounds like when a man is crazy about me. I heard/saw very little of that, past the initial infatuation. We've been talking/texting/emailing/FB posting ... but there is still that "reserve."
But life is good, and despite my sadness I am feeling more "alive" and womanly and sexy than I have in years and years and years. A lot to be said for that.
The perspective I try to maintain in my life, today, is that all of my current challenges are simply luxury problems. I had a wonderful, laughter-filled time with a lovely man. I got off my duff and began to hike and MOVE outdoors and the weight began to fall off. I'm inspired to continue ... hike local trails (I'm a five-minute drive from mountain canyons) & I'm gonna shake the cobwebs off of my bicycle and get out and ride.
I belong to a local outdoors club that hosts hikes, whitewater rips, bicycle rides & the like. I'll pull up the schedule and start showing up for those.
I'm taking myself off the shelf.

Janice, welcome back!
Sounds like your life is revving up. Glad to hear that. I have been in a major funk since last fall. Not fun, nor healthy.
Take care! Enjoy life!

Its good that he was at least part of making you feel revived and feminine again, the way you should. And now with your commitment to the outdoor club activities you just may find someone who does have "the look in his eye when he's with you". In the meantime you have communication with the San Juan fellow which helps to keep you feeling feminine. It's so true that a good man isn't going to knock on our door so the only way to meet him is be out enjoying life. You sure are in the right country for all the hiking and river rafting, etc. Do make yourself do it...but don't beat yourself up if you "cancel out" on one of those activities...just be sure to do the next one or the next one. Yep, Summer's coming and you're gonna have a wonderful time!

Glad you had a good experience and I hope it continues, if not with this guy, then with someone else who makes you feel just as special. Also glad you had a safe drive home.
