Fake Booze

Anyone else drink non-alcoholic stuff? I've been on pain meds since the surgery and can't drink alcohol and have found some nice substitutes. Becks has a good non-alcoholic beer and I really like the Fre Chardonnay. I can't tell the difference between those and the "real deal," they taste the same to me. And, I get the extra bonus of not dancing on tables and drunk dialing ex-boyfriends. I actually ordered a case of the Fre the other day. Anyone try any other kinds I haven't heard of?

Certainly not me...but I sure got a good chuckle out of your "bonus" line!

Drunk dialing ex-boyfiends....that sure got a big resounding laugh outta me, been there done that....easily a hundred years ago by now.

Have tried the Becks non-alchoholic beer once, my BIL drinks it, very similar to the real thing; haven't tried the wine

I can make a heck of a good Spicy Virgin Mary. And I like some of the non-alcoholic fruity drinks - have never tried the non-alcoholic wine, will have to do so one day.

I tried some non-alcoholic wine at a wine tasting at the RVW convention in 2009. I guess it was considered wine, it was bottled like wine but guess you could consider it grape juice. It was very good, I liked it more than the wine. I don't remember the name but it was made in Texas and sold at HEB. On one of my trips to Texas I am going to stop at an HEB and try to find some.

Martha, was it red or white wine or both of them. I'm gonna make it a point to look for that. I have some meds that I take that alcohol really makes me hurt...muscle cramps. So I'd like to try the non-alcohol.

Birdie, she said chardonnay, by Fre - I did a search on non-alcoholic wines and found some others - but here's the website for Fre: http://www.frewines.com/index.html It appears they have 6 varieties.

Another brand a friend recommended to me: http://www.arielvineyards.com/wines.html
I just read the "health benefits" page on the Ariel website - the non-alcoholic wine also has less calories than the same wine with alcohol - who'd have thunk it - I like it better and better.

I haven't tried either yet.

I had red but I think they also had white. I wish I had written the name down. I'm pretty sure it was made in Texas because all they were serving was Texas wine.

The FRE is bottled and finished by Sutter and the Ariel is a J. Lohr bottler. Both are from the fine CA wine country. But I'll bet HEB doesn't have just a whole bunch of that stuff.

There is a great new shop in New Braunfels and if it is sold around here I'll bet they have it. Will try to check out what they have on the shelf soon. And Martha if you find out either where it is bottled or by whom we can Google it. There are a lot of wineries (that doesn't look right) in Texas but we can do anything!

Thanks for starting this thread Amy.

But then I don't drink so how would I know how they compare?
