Well, signed the papers yesterday on the Offer to Purchase with the woman I showed the house to months ago. Looks like its a 99% done deal. She talked to the bank already and now she just has to do the paperwork for the loan. If all goes well we'll close July 1st.
Pending the sale of my house, I've made a contingency offer on a small 2 bdr mobile in an adult park here in town. They have RV storage so my rig will be close-by and I can take off on trips easily. I've fulltimed for three years and I started missing the "nesting" and gardening (on a small scale) when I'm not traveling. When all the dust settles I may then look into downsizing my rig. I think I would travel more if I had a smaller rig so if anyone is interested in buying I'm thinking about $28,000.
I pick up Sassy's ashes today. I've finally stopped fixing "three" dinners and can walk Buddy and Sophie together - they're becoming real buddies.

It seemed you've needed to plant some roots for some time now so I'm happy it coming to fruition for you. Hope the closing/move/sale of the MH etc all go smoothly for you. I'm sure a few hugs are in order as you collect Sassy's ashes today, too.

I know it's sad but there is a real comfort in having your pets ashes with you. Hope you will feel that comfort right away when you pick them up today.
I was sad when I read that you are discontinuing the full-time lifestyle, but I'm sure most people will eventually find a place they want to settle and do just that. Hope all goes smoothly.

Congrats on the house sale! One more big thing off your mind! I think if/when I retire and get an RV, I would want a small condo or mobile home to have as my base home, too, and travel from there throughout the year. Good luck on closing and looking for a new RV!

Congrats, Karen. I know the house has been "hanging" over your head. I hope all goes smoothly forward.
As to your ideas on a mobile home - I think it makes sense for you. You pretty much spend more than 6 months of the year in the area you're in. And maybe you'll feel more free to make the shorter trips if you do as you say.
That said, anyone who gets your rig would be lucky. It's longer than I'd purchase, or I'd consider it. But this winter I made my decision that my next rig will stay shorter. I'm happy with this size. If I did like you, I'd probably go even smaller and get a RT, or similar as they are perfect for what you're talking about. Heck, for Liz, it's perfect for fulltiming, to.
Doing the happy dance for you - as I know you still have the sadness - let all this good news keep you going.

Karen, congrats on selling your house and finding a new place to plop yourself when you're not on the road. Seems like you've found your comfort level. I think the idea of a smaller rig would work perfectly for you and the girls. Don't forget pics of your "soon-to be" home. carold
