Sad but Glad

Some of you may remember this pic of Ronnie fishing at the great pier at the Cameron Jetty RV Park from last year. We stayed there 2 weeks ago, also.

Well, they just said on the news that a barge hit it. No one was injured. So we're sad that it happened, but very glad we weren't fishing on there when it did. They've had to rebuild parts of it after several hurricanes, so hopefully it won't take long to be back in business.

I too am glad you were not out there for the collision! That is not the kind of surprise one needs to have while fishing (or doing anything else for that matter)

What a shame that that had to happen. Sorry you lost your fishing pier, Ronnie, but glad no one was injured.

Yikes! That's a scary thought. So thankful no one was hurt in the mishap, and hopefully it'll be fixed before you want to go again.

Bet the barge captain has a good explanation for hitting that. Like he just took his eyes off the water for a second while he was texting someone. It's not as though that was just dropped in there. Geeessshh Louise!! We have had about 10 tankers barged in and and out of here since we arrived yesterday morning. As long as they can read their markers, their monitors and can input their station stuff that stuff should not happen. Having said all that, makes you wonder how deep it is 4' out from the pier area.

I am surely glad you guys caught all the fish around there. Now you will have some babies that have grown up by the time you get back there. May need to rope drop a red flashing ball out a way from the pier  . Make things a little safer.

Ladies, I FINALLY have proof that Doofus is the mean one, not me...here is a screen clip of an unaltered (except to remove email addresses) partial email I received yesterday from Ms. Doofus.

Now, I ask you, WHO truly is the mean one????
I think we all FINALLY know the truth...

I hope they can collect the damages from the barge company( and someone doesn't steal it). Our poor state government will say we don't have the money to make repairs.

I agree Martha, the barge or tug boat company should be responsible and pay for the repairs!

They seem to be pros at the repairs. Hopefully, they ordered more than they needed last time and have what they need to get the job done quickly. OMG what was I thinking, gov't thinking ahead and making useful decisions!!!! Quick, more coffee. Glad no one was hurt. Linda
