Walk to Shingle Creek today---pics

Here are a few pictures I took on our walk along the canals to shingle Creek today, and a few in the woods along the creek.
The beginning of the walk along the canal around the corner from my house and pond.
Where the canal dumps into the old Shingle Creek.
An old bridge to nowhere along what used to be Shingle Creek before all that modern construction took place. When we used to canoe here, there was nothing but cypress trees, snakes, aligators, fish, tons of birds----it was so gorgeous, like being back in the old days of Florida.
Dried up Cypress swamp.....along the trail from the creek back to the canal.
OUCHIE! A nettle plant/flower along the trail!
More pretty woods where I just missed getting a photo of the three deer that hang out here.
Road/trail back to the canal from Shingle Creek.
A pretty palm tree I love to see on this walk.
The signs along the canal marking the trail to Shingle Creek.
Back to the other side of the canal where we started out. My house is around the corner of the water on the edge of the pond, out of sight from here.
Looking down the canal the other way, toward the bridge where the turtles hang out.
Water control mechanism as part of the bridge. When the place gets a ton of water, it automatically opens up and sends the overflow to Shingle Creek.
Looking from the bridge toward Shingle Creek.
A couple of the many turtles (I have counted up to 25 at a time!) that hang around under the bridge!
We had a great walk. The birds I tried to capture were in the blinding sun, and I have no through-lens on my camera, so I can never see what on earth I am taking. My next camera will have a look-through lens for sure! I am going to try to get one back from the kids that they never use, come to think of it.
Now off to the board meeting/beer @ pizza supper!
