Hello from San Juan Island

Postby Getupngo » Wed Mar 16, 2011 5:26 pm

HEY! I finally have some spotty Internet access. So hello!

The weather here has been c-c-cold and my primary purpose has revolved around staying warm. Given a choice between Utah snow and Northwest humidity/cold, I'd rather shovel. LOL.

Realized after I got here that I forgot to bring my camera, so I'll have to punt. So sorry ladies, no pictures. But today we had some sun -- first time in a few days, so that was a joy.

Today is my last of three days off. Back to the visitor center tomorrow. I need to research and develop an interpretive walk of my own. Never done that before ... still trying to think up an idea.

I'm gonna sign off now and troll through postings -- and maybe comment! Nice to be back here.

Was wondering if you got up their Janice. I hope the warmer weather follows you soon. I don't think you can do anything about the damp - but hopefully it gets warmer! Glad to see you back. Sorry you forgot your camera. That's a no-no, you know :)

Welcome back stranger! Missed you, check in when you can. Forgot the camera? 50 lashes with a wet noodle for you, my dear! I've been to Blaine Wa, but not in the area you are, so was looking forward to some pictures! Hmmmph.

Anacortes, Orcas, and the rest of the San Juans are some of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. I really want to go back there some day. And you forgot your camera! ACK!!! Have a wonderful time and take some brain pics!

 I'll see if I can borrow the Park camera to take some pix to share with you all. I drove up the coast highway this evening, and it was stunning. I LOVE the ocean.

Glad you made it there and checked in with us. I forgot how long you're gonna be there, but would it be possible for your roommate to mail your camera?

I love that island. Did you say you will be at the American end? I thought it was interesting that one end is so green and the other is almost a desert. Enjoy the ocean and the work you are doing. Sounds great.

Glad you made it safely. With all the crazy weather in the mountains (snow) and the rest of WA state getting so much rain, I was concerned. News said tonight that we are 15* below normal temps, so I agree. It's too cold here!

One end is a desert? Wow! I could camp in my beloved desert type of atmosphere, and visit a tree once in a while!

So happy to hear that you are settled in at your new place. Is it the San Juan Islands in that great book.....'Snow Falling on Cedars'?
