one of the things I noticed besides the destruction of all the buildings is that the farm lands
are all under water...seawater. That can't be good, that salt would ruin the soil.

Just horrendous damage! Can't imagine how many years/decades it will take to clean up and rebuild, not to mention the billions of dollars to do so!

It's absolutely amazing how much damage occurred. One can never underestimate the power of water and the speed it had when it hit the area. They were more prepared for the earthquake than the water surge. Unfortunately it will take many, many years for that area to recover. The areas Katrina hit are still in recovery mode and Haiti, well that is a whole nother story. Haiti, may never recover. I wish the people of Japan all my best dealing with one disaster after another. Linda

If I didn't have a dog and thought I could be of any help there - I'd be offering my services somehow. My heart goes out to all of them. And like Linda said, we are still in recovery from Katrina and from hurricanes since. It's such a long road. This has just been devastating for Japan. And with the problem with the nuclear reactors, it could still get so much worse.

I always have and always will hate nuclear power. Not just because of the threat of radiation but also the problem of what to do with all that radioactive waste.
I hope they can control the reactors; they don't need any more disasters.

I second that!
