As many of you on this site know, I have been waiting to find out if I will be able to return to work at Otsego Lake State Park this year, since my boss has tansferred to another park. That meant that the position would have to be filled with a new supervisor. And when that new supervisor, whoever it might be comes in, they don't have to keep the summer staff that has been working there each year. Some like to "clean house" and start fresh with new people.
Well, I just found out today from the head ranger, who is currently acting supervisor, that she was told to go ahead and hire the staff in for the season. So that means that those of us who have been working there, will be going back again. The supervisors position is still lin the process of being posted and whatever, so it will be awhile before a new super is hired. At the moment it looks like it might be open to transfers and a supervisor up in the u.P. is interested in coming down here. Head Ranger isn't completely out of the running though. We just have to see how it plays out.
But in the meantime, those of us who are going back will be starting around the last week of April, probably the 25th. She is working on the budget right now and will probably know more by next week.
The maintenance crew that I work with will all be coming back, so another fun summer coming up. We work so well together. They are going to have to do some hiring though as only two gals from the camp office staff will be returning this year. That is usually an every year thing as they are mostly college student and things change for them from one year to the next. Granduations, other jobs, etc. So there are positions open for the season.
Now I can quit keeping my eye out for another job possibility. Yipppeeee. Not that I was really worried about it anyway. We will go in and start getting things up and ready for the campers and then see what happens with the boss situation. There will be changes I'm sure, but we can work with that.
