Mom's Final Chapter

Well, ladies, I got a call this afternoon from my sister to tell me that my mother had passed away. It is, for my mother, a blessing as she has been in pain, and not happy about her state of health for quite some time. Some of you remember that I cancelled my planned trip to the FL GTG to go to Oklahoma to be with her as my sister thought she was dying then. However, she pulled thru that, though she didn't want to. We all knew she could die at any time, but I was not ready yet.

Forever is a very long time. Forever for a thing that you look forward to is wonderful. Forever of death is so sad. So be sure to tell your loved ones that you love them and be sure that you mean it because you never know when forever will be the end and you can't ever go back then. If you need to say your sorry, say it because you never know when forever will prevent you from having that opportunity. Life is so short and even though my Mom is in her 90's and we think of that as old, it is only the blink of His eye.

So in the morning I shall be headed off to the west. I have about 1200 miles to make in 4 days and 3 nights, so keep me in your prayers. We never know when our time of being here forever is over, so my RVing friends, be careful and safe, and by all means always have fun, as I shall be having fun on my way to see my Mom's remains "being planted" (a joke between Mom and me). Oh, and stay off of I-10 west bound from FL to Beaumont TX for the next 2 days.

So sorry, Birdie, to hear about your mom. It is a tough time for those left behind, even tho you know she is no longer suffering and is happy on the other side. Please be careful driving! And pull over if you feel like crying (hard to see thru tears!). I still really miss my mom, too, but I feel her around me all the time and dream about her almost every night yet, even after 3 1/2 years! Your Mom will be with you on the road!

No matter how much you think you prepare yourself, the pain is still there. I'm sorry you're hurting and will keep you in my prayers. Stay safe on the road and you know where we are if you need a place to pull in for a break or for the night.

So sorry for your loss, Birdie. Mothers are so special. I lost mine in 1967 and I am still missing her. I remember all the happy times we had together. She is the one who planted the wanderlust in me. So just remember the happy times "forever".

Safe travels.
