First Camping Reservation

It's official! I now have a reservation for my first overnight camping trip. Ok, it's in a VA State Park about 10 miles from my front door, but it's officially a State Park, and I have a three night reservation paid for! The parks open the 1st of March, but I'm teaching the first two weeks of March. So I'll be going on the 24th of March for three nights. WHAHOO! I think I'm going to take the Kuwaiti kitty out the first trip. That way she's got no real stress worrying about the other kitties...and they can have the house to themselves for a couple of nights. They'll love that! I got some advice today on doing the reverse winterizing. I have to take apart a box in the closet to get to the water heater shutoff valve. And I know where the fresh water tank empty valve is now too! So Im ready to hook up the fresh water and get rid of the antifreeze and put in some bleach (ala Mitch's suggestion) and get it all ready for real use. also learned today that I don't need to have the water pump on when hooked up to fresh water source. I didn't know that...I don't recall having read that anywhere. One more reason why the trip up I-95 today was a good thing!!!! :D :D

So just about a month from today, I'll be doing my first camping in the Foo Foo! OMG, how exciting is this???? Is it March yet???

My first camping trip in my rig was about 4 miles from home. Good thing cause I forgot my meds and the dog food. Since I wasn't towing then I called Carole and she brought me what I had forgotten. Lists, do lists, do lists.

Lists it is! I will be writing all sorts of them...one for the needs in the RV, one for the RV readiness, and yet another for ensuring everything is in its right place. And that's after I check off the de-winterizing list items! HAHAHAH! :D :?

Ooooh, I'd love to be a fly on the wall for your first trip out! ;) I hope you bring your favorite alcoholic beverage along because I think you might need it.

You grew up camping (and RVing?) with your family, right? Well, parts of RVing is like riding a bike -- you don't forget how to do it. You'll find what fits for you, but it's a dynamic process. Heck! I was even rearranging stuff this weekend & I've been doing the trailer thing for 4 years! I don't think I'd ever want to be so absolutely set in my ways that I couldn't make changes in how I do things in my trailer. I think that's what makes it so fun for me.

You'll have a GRAND time, Li! Picture taking might be a little too much to ask for your first trip, but we'll be looking forward to your recap after you survive the weekend.

Let the planning begin! :)

You bite your tongue, Laura! We want pics!!! Understandably not while you are trying to get everything set up, but you really should take some pics of your first camping experience with Foo Foo!

My first tent camping trip was just 10 miles from home. Good thing, too, since I forgot my sleeping bag and had to drive back home to get it.

Good luck on the maiden voyage! Definately take pics when you have time. And an alcoholic beverage is a good idea! Both to calm your nerves after you get parked, and to celebrate a great job of parking and setting up!

You clearly are gonna rock this camping thing. Have a great time with your shakedown cruise. Have you emptied your black tank yet? THEN you'll be a real RV'er.

Woohoo! That's great. Good idea to camp close by. I did that too. Woke up the whole camping loop at 6 a.m. when I opened the door to let the dog out and set off a security alarm I didn't know I had. I'd read the whole RV manual, but not the whole Dodge manual where that item of information was located. Here's hoping your first camping trip is uneventful except the fun part. If not, then just consider it the "learning part."

That is soooooo cooool. You only need some food and toilet paper and then whatever Ku Kitty needs. Well, maybe the manuals, camera and computer should go with you and maybe a couple of towels, cuz you are going to (the other four letter word) D U M P :o . I cannot come close to telling you how much fun you are going to have. You will just sit around with a stupid grin on your face :P . You will be looking like Liz is looking these days.

This trip will make you want to quit (the other four letter word) W O R K, so that you can (the other four letter word) P L A Y all the time. Have fun planning.

oh Li, you have to be so excited !!! I am for you. Once you've set up in a park and enjoyed your time, exploring and visiting with other campers, then comes the dump part. When you have done that successfully, you will be in the pro's. You will still learn each and every trip out, we all learn something new all of the time. I think you are as prepared as anyone and probably more then some, so enjoy and of course, we would like to hear it all. Especially if you need to use those towels, Birdie, mentioned :o

Soooo excited for you !!!!
CArol :)
