We found the Ocean!

We are in Ocean City at the Ocean Shores RV Resort ( Western Horizons park) Visiting friends Ralph & Joanne who are working in the park . We are also visiting our Cousins Grant & Donna who are near by in Ocean Shores on one of the canals and friends Bob & Sue also have a lot on one of the canals( Bob used to work with Dan) are coming up to stay the weekend. PARTY TIME!!!!
Last night we went out to dinner with Grant & Donna and had a great dinner at Mariah's Restaurant. We'll be here having fun tilll the 16th and then we head to Oregon and staying in Seaside 6 days.
After dinner we zoomed to the beach and watched the Sun go down, end of a bitter -sweet day. Sweet because it was a beautiful day shared with our loved ones but sad because it was the 7th anniversary of Sept 11,2001. Many flags were flown at half mast yesterday here.

Jenny,
I stayed at Ocean Shores for a few days 3 summers agos. I love how wooded the sites were. My g/f came with me and we just had a little gtg and felt like we were in the middle of nowhere. They had a steak dinner while we were there. I think it was $6 or so a person - of course we went. And we also went to the ice cream social they had. They were in need of a lot of renovation then - have they got to any of it yet?

I love Seaside. Never stayed there, as I stay at my friends in Astoria when up in that neck of the woods, but just love that whole area this time of year - when they actually have sun :)

Enjoy!

That is a great campsite, and my kind of place. I like a lot of space between sites. Great pics and views from your rig.

Trudy, Unfortunately that's a membership only park. Jenny can stay there through her membership in Thousand Trails. I stayed there on a special coupon they gave me. There are lots and lots of wonderful wooded parks like that on the east coast - not so many on the west - except state parks.

Sorry Trudy but Beth is right , you have to be a Western Horizon member or like me a Resorts of Distinction thru Thousand Trails.
When I bought into Thousand Trails back in 2000 I bought a used membership instead of new ( it actually offered me more parks with the used one!!)
Then yrs later I Heard of R.O.D. and I could get it for $99. Everyone said No No you can't get it you have to put out $3,000 for a Platinum membership and yet I heard others did. After talking to 5 different people we finally found the right person and got it for $99.00 and now it has gone up to $139.00 but that is for the WHOLE YEAR. I pay NOTHING coming into the gate! Five nights free...Hot diggety dog! Now because of my membership with Thousand Trails membership each year I pay my dues of $500.00 and get 50 free nights, after the 50 free nights I pay only $5 a night. I have not used up my 50 nights so my stays in Seaside and Whaler's Rest will be FREE. We have been members since 2000.....trust me they made no money off us because we use it all the time. The ones they make the money on is the ones who buy new and seldom use them. They sell 10 memberships for every campsite it seems.

There is the Ocean City State Park that you can go to though Trudy and also the Quinault Casino has RV parking and if you get there early in the week you can park so your rear is to the Ocean you'll see the Ocean out your back window! I promise you will be far enough away so you are NOT in the ocean like Sparkle ( just teasing you Sparkle...we'll never let you hear the last of that adventure)

The area we are in is between the Pacific Ocean and Grays Harbor. There are several state parks North of us.

I can hear the Ocean from where we are.

This is the backside of our Cousins house. It is a small two bedroom that was mostly their weekend and extended vacation house and now they live in it all year but do take trips to Carmel CA in the wintertime and Donna works at a little kitchen shop in town and they see Clint Eastwood alot there in town in Carmel. Donna has a fantastic sense of interior and exterior decorating! Wish I could get her input on the casita!

This is the back yard and their dock to launch the fishing boat or canoe

Image
Looking to the left of the back yard, we see people going back and forth through the canals all the time. I usually like taking my kayak out or Donna and I will go out in the canoe and Dan and Grant will take the small fishing boat out. If you are lucky you'll see a Doe cross over and the Beavers.
So far I think I have counted 8 Deer, 4 Racoons, 1 Beaver and lots of birds since we have been here.
In the Summer time Ocean Shores is the hot place to come and camp and beach comb, the town is packed!!! I like it after Sept when it is quieter but Burrrr we are cold with the fog coming in the last couple days.....time to head South!!

love that livingroom, it looks warm and cozy for a cold winter, and I like
the love seat, I've always preferred a love seat to a standard sofa. Back
in my home in Colorado I had two matching love seats and one recliner.
Someday I swear I'm gonna get rid of this big sofa I've got in my 5th.

I want to live at your cousins location! The boat just waiting out the back door is so perfect. Of course I wouldn't mind their winter location of Carmel either. I just haven't got my life figured out right. You know, that feeling of being dropped in the wrong spot. I love cool, misty oceanside locations and here I am in the hot humid midwest. Guess I better go get some chocolate to go with my 'whine' ;) Thanks for the virtual get away Jenny.

Jenny and Dan,
What a blessed life you live.
I love your cousin's house on the canal. Looks so peaceful.
Thanks so much for sharing and to your cousin for allowing you to share with us.
Hugs!

Jenny, Their house looks so inviting. And the grounds - definitely a place I'd love to visit. But, like with visiting my g/f in Astoria - I just can't do that damp, cold (yep, cold to me in the summer, even) climate for long. But when they have their occasional beautiful sunny days - it's absolute bliss. And I can see why they (if the climate suits them) would be there. Oh, they have such a cozy nest.

We just love to come up here, it is indeed sooooo peaceful and quiet. You can't help but to relax there!!! Donna has "Fishy" things in the house and I love the colors! The carpet, frig stove , wood floor are all new and I just loved the kitchen island. I could use that down in Yuma. I got the new hotplate and thinking of getting a little oven like my friend Joanne's. It's one of those toaster ovens ( Europro). I wanted a microwave/ convection but I really miss having a broiler and this little oven I want has one and it is also a convection so I'm going to look for it in Oregon and save sales tax.
Warming up today, sun is out and we enjoyed driving down the beach.

Here are the Racoons we saw yesterday.....GOT FOOD?

I remember years and years ago coming up here and riding the horses down the beach
